My son was in the Auburn Honors College 7/8 years ago as a Freshman/Sophomore, it is not new.
His classes were much harder than the non-honors classes…it wasn’t just the fun stuff and activities. He was a full IB Diploma kid & Nat’l AP Scholor so he didn’t think the honors classes would be too tough - they were and they dropped his GPA. There are fun activities, etc. but be prepared for much harder classes if you are in the math/sciences.
Interesting. Thank you for the information. I think the smaller classes sizes and Honors housing appeals to my daughter, but the rigor of the classes is definitely something to consider. She is also in an IB program and more than likely will be in some sort of STEM major.
Thanks again for your reply.
Was anyone able to successfully submit updated test scores after being accepted in the early round in order to get higher merit?
I know the first round of admissions decisions came out mid October, so I’m curious how long a student would have to improve and submit a higher test score in order to still be considered for a higher level of merit. About does the first round of merit scholarships usually come out?
Thanks!
My student applied the 1st round of Early Action and decisions came out mid-October. Test scores were submitted, HOWEVER, unlike other schools, Auburn does not pull the Superscore. You have to submit each test individually. Didn’t know that until the first round of merit awards came out in November, and she did not receive one. After submitting all tests, it took until the December merit award release to correct the issue and receive merit. So, in our experience, it took one month after updated scores were received. I believe all merit $$ was gone by January though and they were unable to award merit to the lower tiers this year. Best to get all testing done by 1st early action deadline and submit all tests ASAP.
I think the general consensus is apply early, but is there any advantage to applying August 1 vs later in August, assuming you make the Sept 15 first round of Early Action deadline?
Also, does anyone know about how long it typically takes Auburn to get scores sent from ACT (assuming you requesting the be sent when you registered for the test)? The ACT website says “up to 2 months”, but that sounds like a long time considering I assume they sent them electronically.
Thanks!
Are recommendation letters optional for Auburn? Is there a spot on the application to upload them? If so, how many should a student submit? Thanks

Deferred…OOS 3.97 unweighted, 4.19 weighted. Lots of AP and extracurriculars. She was told to send in 1st semester grades. Does this mean they will immediately look at those or wait for all the Regular Decision applications to compare.
Was admitted to Clemson…go figure! Would still like to be admitted to Auburn so she can look at all her choices?
What major? My daughter deferred as well, with almost identical stats. Plus Varsity Captain, multiple certifications, Pre Nursing major.
She is Pre Business since they do not admit straight into the Business school like some other colleges. She is Varsity 2 sport athlete, community service(NCL), and all of her courses for senior year are AP that are business courses(AP Stats, AP Econ, AP Calc, Marketing 2). Does your daughter just plan to wait and see if she gets admitted in Reg Decision? Are you OOS?
OOS, and will wait to see…in the meantime, we are encouraging her to look at all options, because I’d hate to see her plan 100% on AU and then get rejected after all this!!! Has 4 other acceptances, and still waiting on a few more big decisions.
