To clarify the applicants - Applications were up ~3K for the class of '22 to the class of '23. People are still applying to be the class of '24.
Iâm really disappointed that Auburn would send out a letter saying students got the Presidential scholarship with the amount listed at 17k 68k over 4 years but then have a 15k listed under the award. The award letter was from the University President. This seems like a big mistake. We havenât reached out to the school b/c I really thought the university would address and fix the mistake today. Not to mention 15k isnât even a Presidential award. Also definitely not consistent with the amounts listed at WED and when the Auburn reps visited schools. Makes me wonder if these kind of mistakes are happening during admissions and are not being corrected, what other kind of âmistakesâ will happen over the next 4 years if my child decided to attend⊠we were really pro Auburn but this has been eye opening
Itâs a huge mistake, and attention to detail is lacking. Left hand meet right hand. Pretty telling in my opinion. Hereâs the thing though: they donât care. They have the luxury of having way more demand than supply. Iâm not saying that is rightâŠfar from it.
Absolutely agree on all points. As the mom of a kid who got the $17K thatâs really $15K, it totally stinks and between this and the housing craziness at Auburn, I personally question if this is a great place to send my kid. However, demand is outpacing supply and kids will still chose to attend (quite possibly including my own). Auburn is most frequently compared to Clemson. Clemson gives almost no merit aid, has a higher starting tuition rate and will turn away tons of highly qualified kids but have no issue filling their freshman class with high caliber kids. No reason Auburn canât realistically expect to do the same.
We have a student at Clemson too, itâs a great school and I agree, thankfully weâve definitely never gotten a letter from the Clemson President with incorrect and/or conflicting information
Can anyone recommend a good summary of the housing options - beyond whatâs on the Auburn website? S24 has his housing slot on Thursday and weâre trying to figure out how to rank order the options other than proximity to his academic building and cost. Thanks!
So this is old but I think still gives some good info:
https://www.reddit.com/r/auburn/comments/gha5ih/incoming_freshman_whats_the_best_dorm_to_stay_in/
It would be nice if when they say mid-November the announcements actually came in mid-November, its almost December now
My info is a little old but may still hold true - my son was in honors college and had the option of the Village apartment type dorms where everyone had their own room and shared a bathroom with one other student or Quad dorms which were old traditional 2 to a bedroom 1 bathroom shared between 2 bedrooms (4 people) - women/men on alternate floors. He chose the Quad (Broun Hall) and loved it. You roll out of bed to the right and your at the student center, roll to the left and youâre at the library, skip straight ahead and youâre at the stadium. You are in the middle of all the tailgating on Saturdayâs in the fall. My understanding is they have done some upgrading and remodeling of those old dorms, but believe it or not, they were preferred over the private rooms in the Village which are basically just apartments.
Thanks for this and thanks @coastal2024 for the Reddit link. This has all been helpful. It looks like Quad is going to be the first choice for location and cost.
Has anyone heard about OOS Merit scholarships other than Presidential yet? My D24 meets the stats for one of the others.
Nothing yet
It says for OOS only Presidential scholarships will be awarded
In State will get Spirit of Auburn Presidential and Founders. This is for the class of 2024, so it must have been recently updated?
Nothing yet.
For those that were accepted during the second EA, mid Nov-have you received the packet in the mail yet? We havenât and curious if anyone else has. Thank you.
Hi, my son was accepted second EA and we have not received the packet.
