Audiophile

Hey guys! What sort of music do you enjoy listening to during exam time/cranking through pile of homework? List some of your favorite songs below! I generally like music that pump me up or has a real meaning behind it. Sorry Dubstep/Techno lovers!

Modest Mouse - Float On
Audio Adrenaline - Underdog
The Hives - Tick Tick Boom
Kid Cudi - Erase Me
Macklemore - Same Love
Chiddy Bang - Opposite of Adults

What does this have to do with being an audiophile? I assumed this would be a conversation about headphones.

I guess audiophile really just means “sound-lover” if you think about it.

My deepest apologies for my failure to be so literal. On the other hand, you completely failed to answer my question. Better luck next time!

^
I was responding to the person who asked what the question had to do with being an audiophile…

Oh same here. I meant that message to blahblah. Halcyonheather I think we got on the wrong foot since our previous thread with rackcity. I have no hatred against you.

I think I’m the only audiophile here, I just bought myself some STAX SR-009 headphones. They’re pretty good, I recommend them.

If it’s for listening while I do homework, it can’t have lyrics or I get distracted. Movie soundtracks are the best, they make you feel as though you’re in the film. This is my favourite: [Prince Caspian Soundtrack ~ Prince Caspian Flees - YouTube](<a href=“Prince Caspian Soundtrack ~ Prince Caspian Flees - YouTube”>Prince Caspian Soundtrack ~ Prince Caspian Flees - YouTube)

That’s a kid’s toy, man. Real audiophiles own a Sennheiser Orpheus.

What amp and DAC do you use to power it?

It changes. Currently,

@CSI: I would like to point out that you’re listening to music on youtube and therefore cannot be an audiophile.

EDIT: Unless you’re using youtube to show an example of the song, of course. XD

The thread is asking for music I listen to, not if I spend $200 on headphones.

I listen to music through plastic earbuds from Family Dollar.
I don’t think I like music in general as much as most people. I’ve never been to a concert.
I think most of my music is pop or maybe alternative rock…I don’t know anything about genres. My favorite band is The Shins and I like listening to piano instrumentals of popular songs.

Thanks for the feedback… I think? Haha so far I only received two legitimate answers. Anyway, since most of us are on the topic of headphones: Bose QC15 or Get Outa HERE. You Beats wannabe’s can go cry :D

Bose, beats, and skullcandy are the worst headphones you can buy actually. None of them are audiophile, they’re overpriced toys that are only popular because of marketing.

Bose makes the best active noise cancelling headphones I’ve heard. But within ~$200 of the price, you could get a great pair of in-ears that sound better and provide comparable isolation just by sealing the ear canal. It just means that active noise cancellation as a technology isn’t competitive, not that Bose produces inferior products.

I agree about Beats though; haven’t tried Skullcandy.

To answer the OP:

Nirvana - Nevermind. They say people are smarter when listening to Mozart, but this album helps me write code and debug like nothing else.
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde. Especially Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again.
Chopin’s nocturnes. Shuffling through them is perfect for late deep thought late at night. Especially when stargazing.
Paco de Luc

Top 40 pop instrumentals @OP

Bose isn’t mainstream to whoever commented negatively about Bose. If you tried the Bose noise-cancelling feature, you’ll be blown away. Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys :D

Bose is top of the line, just because people love Bose doesn’t mean it’s bad.

@Halogen - That’s awesome that you program. I’m also a programmer. Add me?
