Music is my life, what about you?

I'm bored and just decided to ask a few music related questions :]

If someone asked you what kind of music you listen to, could you give them a one-genre answer?

Do you listen to music all the time or do you not really care?

Apple iPod or some other brand of mp3 player?

Do you listen to music from before you were born?

What is your FAVORITE band, and if you can't choose one, what are your top five?

How much music do you have?

MY ANSWERS~

If someone asked you what kind of music you listen to, could you give them a one-genre answer?

Absolutely not. I listen to pretty much anything. Country is not my favorite at all, but I have listened to the Dixie Chicks and Carrie Underwood at times. I won't lie, I like one or two songs by Miley Cyrus, but she isn't my favorite. My music taste spreads across the map.

Do you listen to music all the time or do you not really care?

In school I can't listen to music, but when I'm home I can't do homework or focus if I have no music playing in the background.

Apple iPod or some other brand of mp3 player?

iPods are too expensive, I have an 8GB GoGear Aria until I get money for a classic iPod.

Do you listen to music from before you were born?

Yes, I do. I love Prince, Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, AC/DC, Bill Withers, and other artists and bands that started out long before I was born in '93. In my opinion, the older music really was the best.

What is your FAVORITE band, and if you can't choose one, what are your top five?

I don't have just one, but I have a top five.

Alesna 2. Asking Alexandria 3. Family Force 5 4. Cinema Bizarre 5. Bring Me the Horizon

How much music do you have?

36 gigabytes of music are on my computer. That doesn't include CD's I've bought hard copies for.

1) I response is usually “In every genre there are things that I think are good and bad, although some genre’s have more in good or bad catagories than others.” That being most of the stuff I like is classical, prog rock and East-Coast rap (circa 1995).

2) My favorites always loop in my head…

3) I have an ipod but nothing beats the speakers in my room.

4) Dream Theater and Nas.

5) Favorite Composer is Mahler.

I have a lot of music… excluding CDs which I haven’t uploaded onto iTunes I have about 55GB.

No. Captain Beefheart, Cat Stevens, Charles Mingus, and The Clash sit right next to each other in my iTunes library. My taste in music in pretty broad, I think, by most standards.

Constantly. Too much, probably.

iPod.

I think most of the music I listen to was recorded before I was born.

Bob Dylan, The Velvet Underground, The Smiths, Elvis Costello, and Leonard Cohen. This list is apt to change at any time, though.

About 500 albums (56.01 GB) in my iTunes library, but that doesn’t include the stuff I listen to over the internet but don’t own on CD.

Alll right, hipster showdown.

Very eclectic taste. As long as the music has some kind of artistic merit, under traditional and postmodern definitions. From Lady Gaga to Neutral Milk Hotel to 2Pac, that’s a pretty wide spread.

I consider music a separate activity. But I do try to multitask sometimes, like when I am cooking, cleaning the room, and blowing people’s head off, virtually.

I actually buy and sell electronics as a living, so I cycle through a lot of MP3 players. But I finally settled with a 120gb classic and my iphone.

Rarely. I moved to this country when most people of that age have gained a definitive view on its culture. My approach to reeducate myself was to just listen to everything chronologically. I tried Pink Floyd and Zepplin then I found out that 90’s to current indie is my thing.

Neutral Milk Hotel, The Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, Animal Collective–and to increase the spread, Girl Talk (heavily recommended mash-up artist. Get your pop-culture fix in one hour-long album).

Nice try, RIAA. But according to iTunes, approaching 83gb.

^Sorry, but naming bands that have “sold out” (e.g. Modest Mouse) totally destroys your hipster cred. I suppose Neutral Milk Hotel, Animal Collective, and Neutral Milk Hotel are marginally hipsterish, but too not-obscure.

If someone asked you what kind of music you listen to, could you give them a one-genre answer?
Not really. It’s mostly split between alternative rock and classical music from 1850 to the present, but I like a lot of kinds of music. Jazz is nice, and some country and hip-hop. I even like pop, especially of the glossy Madonna or Lady Gaga variety.

Do you listen to music all the time or do you not really care?
Not all the time but often, while doing/procrastinating on homework.

Apple iPod or some other brand of mp3 player?
I don’t use either.

Do you listen to music from before you were born?
Sometimes. I like Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Velvet Underground, some 70s and 80s bands/singers, etc. and of course classical music. Most of the music I listen to is from the 90s, though.

What is your FAVORITE band, and if you can’t choose one, what are your top five?
Ignoring all classical music…
Radiohead, Pixies, Belle and Sebastian, My Bloody Valentine, and…something else. Subject to change.
For classical music:
Hindemith (), Berg, Xenakis, Barber, Debussy

How much music do you have?
Not a huge amount. Two days and 9.5 hours worth.

^If You’re Feeling Sinister is a perfect album, IMO. Why it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves is beyond me.

1. If someone asked you what kind of music you listen to, could you give them a one-genre answer?

I always say “gay indie ****.”

2. Do you listen to music all the time or do you not really care?

Here and there. It is great background music, but I don’t live my life for it.

3. Apple iPod or some other brand of mp3 player?

Apple iPod. I’m an Apple sucker.

4. Do you listen to music from before you were born?

The eighties were great. I’m disinterested on any other decade.

5. What is your FAVORITE band, and if you can’t choose one, what are your top five?

Favorite bands are for losers.

6. How much music do you have?

100 GB on iTunes.

If someone asked you what kind of music you listen to, could you give them a one-genre answer?
**Nope. I listen to almost all genres. From country to rap and everything in between. **

Do you listen to music all the time or do you not really care?
Almost all of the time. I love music.

Apple iPod or some other brand of mp3 player?
Pfft @ Apple. I use a Creative Zen Vision:M MP3 Player. And it kicks the iPod’s ass.

Do you listen to music from before you were born?
A lot. I absolutely love music from the 60s - 80s. IMO, that’s where some of the best music originated.

What is your FAVORITE band, and if you can’t choose one, what are your top five?
**I honestly don’t have a favorite band. I guess it would be between LTD (the 70s group, not the 90s group.), The Chambers Brothers, Rymes(sic) with Orange, and Earth Wind and Fire, Taking Back Sunday. **

How much music do you have?
I have no idea. According to my mp3 player, several thousand songs.

1. If someone asked you what kind of music you listen to, could you give them a one-genre answer?

I’d say pop-punk or alternative punk, but I listen to pretty much everything.

2. Do you listen to music all the time or do you not really care?

All the time, unless I’m with someone.

3. Apple iPod or some other brand of mp3 player?

I don’t even have an mp3 player lol.

**4. Do you listen to music from before you were born?
**
Yes.

**5. What is your FAVORITE band, and if you can’t choose one, what are your top five?
**
Blink-182.

**6. How much music do you have?
**
About 20 Gigs.

If someone asked you what kind of music you listen to, could you give them a one-genre answer?

No. I listen mostly to indie/mainstream stuff, but I like all genres (mostly). I’m not a music guru by any means, not even close.

Do you listen to music all the time or do you not really care?

Eh, daily. Like the prev. poster, it’s not my life, but I listen to music for decent amounts of time.

Apple iPod or some other brand of mp3 player?

Apple “Video” iPod. Mostly listen to music on my computer though.

Do you listen to music from before you were born?

Not really. I mean, I have a few artists and songs, and some classical songs, but other than that, no.

What is your FAVORITE band, and if you can’t choose one, what are your top five?

My top are always changing. Currently, top artists for me are Imogen Heap, Elliott Smith, Teddy Geiger, Glee music in no order.

How much music do you have?

12 GB-ish–> ~2100 songs. I probably don’t remember at least half of them… like I said, I suck with music. I listen primarily to the tunes/catchiness; not too much to the lyrics or composition.

Sorry for any typos and the fact that I can’t copy paste. Writing on iPod.

 1. No, I could not state just one genre.
 2. I listen quite a bit. Like everyday in math.
 3. iPod.
 4. Most of my music from before I was born is orchestral or classical or music that people normally call classical (eg: Chopin, who was actually Romantic, I think). Or it’s stuff from movies that are old.
 5. It has to be a band? If so, probably Mindless Self Indulgence. My favorite artists in general are much more mellow. Like MAE, I guess that’d be a good comparison band.
 6. About 1200. I have rules about which songs I keep, mostly that I have to listen to them at least 5 times. I’ve recently started dl’ing whole albums though, so I need to delete a few songs from each of them.

^ “Classical Music” is a more general term, Chopin did write in the Early/Mid Romantic period though.

Die Antwoord- Zef Side

If someone asked you what kind of music you listen to, could you give them a one-genre answer?

Apple iPod or some other brand of mp3 player?

Do you listen to music from before you were born?
not really.

What is your FAVORITE band, and if you can’t choose one, what are your top five?
I don’t have one.

How much music do you have?
300-400 songs I think.

No, I usually say not country or classical

When I’m not doing hw but on my comp, or when I’m in the car

iPhone

Yea, old stuffs pretty good too

Arashi

~800 songs

If someone asked you what kind of music you listen to, could you give them a one-genre answer? Alternative Rock

I guess Rock in general, but I can’t really get any more specific than that.
