This may have been answered already in a more generic thread, and if so I apologize, but is there an advantage to auditioning in November at Elon, or is February better? I think they say they accept only a very few in Nov and defer the rest until spring, in which case what can we take from that in terms of scheduling strategy? Thanks so much!

I'm a freshman MT major at Elon this year, and I believe that the november audition dates are for the early action or early decision applications to the university but you can also do a regular application and audition then. I'm not sure what the difference in acceptance quotas are for the Oct-Nov dates and the February dates..

Personally, I auditioned in February and it worked out fine for me!

And, I LOVE it here. I really do.

When I visited Elon a couple weeks ago, they said that they prefer the Performing Arts majors to apply Early Action

You should always check with the school, but audition dates and Early Action do not have to go hand in hand. Anyone can audition at any time, as long as you get the forms in for the audition by the required amount of time before the audition. Performing arts acceptance is always pending academic acceptance, which can be in Dec. if you apply EA or in March if you apply regular decision. Also, academic acceptance in no way guarantees that you will be accepted into one of the BFA programs, but you could go to Elon for a different major. There is no harm in applying EA, as it is not a binding decision. The good news is that you learn of your academic acceptance about Dec. 20. I think EA is good regardless of when you audition.

Glad to hear from a new student who loves it! You'll probably meet my son who is in his second year in MT.

So, anyone auditioning Nov 16th?

I am!! And I am in looooove with Elon. Everything I read, see, and hear about Elon makes that much more excited to get Senior year finished with and go to the best school ever!!!!

October 26th!

Only 1 month and 2 days away!

:/

wow that is soon!!! and then you have to wait until at least a week after the fall auditions are over to hear back!!! oh the anticipation!
and yay cateface90!!! i'm totally excited for the audition!!!

Are you staying for the open house on the 17th??

hummm i'm not sure. i didn't even see that before...maybe since the fall dance concert is that day...i visited/auditioned last year and got the tour and all so i'll see what my family wants to do. i hope i can stay!
OH! and i'm seeing cabaret on the 3rd! i wanted to audition on the 2nd but i have an exam i can't reschedule so i'm going up to see it anyway because i didn't get to see a musical last year.

You should definitely see a show at Elon if you get a chance. Cabaret will be a great option! Also, if you can stay after Nov. 16 auditions until the 18th, I believe that the fall dance concert is held twice the evening of the 17th and twice the afternoon of the 18th. I believe this is at 6 and 8 on Sat. and 2 and 4 on Sun., but please check with the school to be sure. It also seems a good idea to see the campus on Sat., if you get a chance and haven't visited before. Good luck!

i am not auditioning until February 15th....is there anyone else auditioning then?? for those of you auditioning in november....good luck! i hope you will post and let me know how it goes!
i love Elon so much but i dont want to get set on one school in case i dont get in. where else is everyone auditioning?

hahah well actually im only applying to Elon. crazy i know. but i love the school so much that even if i happen to not get into the mt program i am still dead set on going.

that IS crazy!! well good luck to you! are you excited about auditioning?

My D is auditioning on October 26th. Anyone else auditioning on that date?

Oh, and one more question.......Kimberly Rippy mentioned something about performing recommendations versus academic recommendations and to "keep them separate". Don't you turn in all of your recommendations with your application? Do we have to bring copies of our recommendations from directors, etc. to the actual audition? I didn't see anything about that in the paperwork. All I saw was a suggestion to bring a copy of your headshot and resume.

I can not wait to audition. I am so excited. November 16th can't come fast enough.

the recs from performing go to the audition...the academic recs can go to the school with the app.
