I’m going to be out of the country on a family vacation for the first 3 weeks of August. Does Brown mail out anything really important in August?

I can't really remember, but they very well may. Perhaps your roommate info. You can call admissions and ask them.

I think the roommate and room location information is sent out in early August, but it's also sent by email (we were on vacation last year, and my daughter got the info while we were away). There will also be some info sent out about orientation -- but again, I think it's all available by email. If you can access the Internet you should be fine. If not, your roommate will wonder where you are.

Yeah, I'll have computer access, but I probably wouldn't be on too frequently. What's the point of a vacation if you spend all of it in front of a computer screen? lol

I'm glad to hear the roommate stuff is available via email.

Does anyone know if a lot of people go to the pre-orientations? I wanted to, but I need at least a couple of days between getting back from my trip and leaving home for Brown. I'm kind of paranoid that I'll miss out on some fun stuff.

no, other than TWTP, i don't think i've met anyone who did the pre-orientations

The kids who did BUAD (Building Understanding Across Differences) loved the program and made friendships that lasted throughout freshmen year. The program might have different timing this year, so it may not be a pre-orientation program.

There's another one -- UCAAP? Can't recall the initials, that I've heard good things about.
