Austin Community College & UT Austin

Hi guys,

So I was enrolled in a 4 year university out of state studying Electrical Engineering for a couple years, but decided I hated my major, so I came back to Texas and am looking at many options.

My first option was UT Dallas. I'm still not sure if I should try to go to UT Austin or UT Dallas, but I'm strongly considering UT Austin for accounting since their accounting program is #1 in the nation.

So if I do decide to go to UT Austin, I'll have to go to ACC for a year or so.

My question is-- is there a point transferring my credits from my 4 year university to ACC? I've taken Calc 1-4 and stuff, and UT Austin requires you to take a couple math courses, but I'm assuming that they want to see your grade in those math courses rather than a "T" for transfer.

Also, does anybody know the acceptance rate from ACC to UT Austin's Business School?

I was originally accepted from high school and decided to go to another university... so I'm hoping I can get into UT Austin again.

I was just checking out the transfer info. on UT yesterday for my d’s friend. They have a lot of info. there about their requirements and some statistics. Look at the tabs near the top of the gray box on this page: http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/BBA/Prospective/Admission/External-Transfer#tab-pane3

I would doubt very much that you would need to transfer your credit to ACC. It makes more sense that you would submit all of your previous credits vis transcripts to UT. ACC might want to see them to help prepare you for a transfer. See the 3rd tab for “Transferring credits”. There’s a specific link there for ACC transfers.

Really, the best thing to do is to contact someone in the dept. at UT and get some help from someone there. I would recommend familiarizing yourself with the info. on their website in the link above and then going to them with specific questions.

Thank you!

I’m just hoping my current university’s grades won’t affect my admission from ACC to UT Austin. It shouldn’t right? It’s based off my ACC grades?

Definitely going to give somebody a call tomorrow morning.

Why are you going through ACC to UT Austin? Are you already taking classes at at ACC? Can you not transfer into UT Austin from current university?

I can but I thought I wouldn’t be able to get in with a 2.7. Wouldn’t hurt to try, but I’m enrolled at ut dallas now. Probably won’t transfer!
