Austin Festivals Suggestions?

Hi.

Can you name some of the most remarkable festivals that take place in Austin, TX, and also the details?

I've heard of Austin City Limits and SXSWeek.
So, can you tell me
1) When and where it takes place.
2) How much it is.
3) What it is about (music, film, icecream, wine, etc)
4) Popularity and your personal comment about that event.

Thank you!!!
Hook 'em HORNS!!!

p.s. How do people keep track of all the various events???

The Pecan Street Festival is amazingly fun. There are local singers and musicians on three stages, many vendors, and just a lot of fun. I went there in May and I had a blast and I hope to go again.

The Austin Film Festival is a four-day conference at the Driskill Hotel devoted to screenwriting, along with ten days of film screenings around town. You can buy just a film pass, which allows priority seating, or a weekend pass to the conference as well, or a full conference badge. They also have various volunteer and intern opportunities, which get you in free. This year the conference is October 20-23, and the films run through Oct 27.

Good thread idea!
SXSW is so expensive, I doubt I’ll be attending any time soon.
I didn’t even know about some of these, and I went to UT last year.
There’s Nocturnal: [Nocturnal Festival Texas 2011 - Friday April 29th & Saturday April 30th 2011](http://nocturnalfestival.com/TX/index.php)

SXSW has loads of free events.

^care to elaborate…?

The ones that occur at Auditorium Shores. Last SXSW, I was out of town for most of it but I got to go see Bright Eyes with some other bands.

There’s lots - just look for it when it gets closer to the festival.
