So this is for Texas A&M, but could probably apply to any school with an auto admission policy. For A&M you need a 1300-something SAT along with a GPA ranking in the top 25% of your HS. Here is the problem, my school doesn’t rank. Without a way of telling where my GPA ranks can I still qualify for this?
Thanks
My understanding is you can’t qualify for auto-admit without a class ranking. Sorry
If you’re in TX, ask your guidance counselor. Sounds logical, no?
Not in Texas. I’m talking about the academic auto-admission, which seems like it is for OOS students as well. Also, I hate to say it, but my counselor has been of no help thus far.
You need to contact the school and ask. I thought autoadmit was only for TX students. That is certainly the case for the top 10%. http://admissions.tamu.edu/pdfs/transcript-freshman-session
It is my understanding that auto admit for A&M and UT is for Texas students only. I may be wrong, but that is how I have always known it to be.
By state law, A & M must admit instate students in the top 10% of their high school class, regardless of any other stats. This only applies to schools that rank and that are in-state.
By policy, A&M also guarantees admission to students with a certain SAT in their top 25% for class rank. But again, your school must issue rankings for this to apply to you.
Our school does not rank either. We are OOS. A &M asked for a school profile and assigned a rank based on the transcript and profile. You could ask your guidance counselor for the school profile and upload it yourself through AIS (I believe though in our case the counselor did it for my daugher). The info on what A & M needs is on the website too.
