Auto-reject?

Notoriously, the most unforgiving of all universities, I didnt realize Stanford requires teacher evaluations from differrent subject areas.

This, I am guessing, auto-reject?

argh, give a call to admissions and see if you can still submit an additional evaluation from a teacher in a different subject area. They may say yes, since they will probably just be starting RD application reviews this week. Good luck.

ARGH
AFTER READING THIS I REALIZE I DID THE SAME THING.
I spent so much time on my application and I’m really worried they’re going to reject me automatically just because I didn’t follow instructions. I will give the admissions office a call tomorrow.

Will this mean I’ll be rejected for sure? I have a 2400 and great ECs, good teacher recs, but would this mistake cost me everything? Please reply!

let me know how that turns out

I think there’s a reasonably good chance you will both have the opportunity to send in an additional, appropriate recommendation, since admissions offices typically notify applicants if their files are incomplete in some way, and give them a brief period of time in which to supply the missing item. I realize that your situation isn’t exactly the same as this since it involved an oversight regarding the directions, but I still think you’ll be okay if you call and explain, and then get that other recommendation in fast. Call them asap!

Hello everybody,

My guidance counsellor and I called the university today. They said that it was not a big deal and that it would not hinder my application. They also told me that if I wanted, I could send in an additional recommendation via fax with a note attached explaining my reasons for doing so. Thanks guys. Tell me how it goes for you, arghwhy

alright, I think I’m not going to send an addition one.

I’m just going to hope they don’t notice, because if I send an additional letter in, it only brings attention to my faults.

Last year, I heard (not sure) stanford didnt allow thousands of applicants who handed in their apps late to be considered for admission.

Guys, when it comes to college applications, remember to think rationally. Does it make sense for a university to reject an applicant just because they had two recommendations in the same subject area? No. The recommendations are meant to give a teacher’s perspective on the student’s work and personality, so as long as your recs accomplish that, then you’re fine.

Did the recommendations have to be from two specific subject areas (specified by Stanford) or just two teachers that aren’t from the same subject area?
