Automatic Acceptance?

I've heard about automatic acceptance if you meet certain requirements, but does anyone know for certain if it still holds? The most I was able to find was a news article from August talking about it, but there's nothing I could find on the website. I really don't want to write 2 essays if I don't have to.

Any help would be appreciated! If it helps, I am a NMF

btw, I know that there was another thread about this, but it was from a year ago, so there might be more information now

NMFs are automatically accepted to OU and the Honors College. Though admissions requires essays, you simply have to write “I am a national merit finalist” and you’ll get a fat envelope in the mail.

Apply today so that you can correct any problems that might arise between now and February.

Confirming what whenhen said.

Thank you both!
Update: I noticed after posting this that the website said the supplemental essays were for scholarship purposes and that they will consider you for admission without it  in case anyone else has the same question (http://www.ou.edu/go2/admissions/commonapp.html)

True. My son did not even include his transcript before he got admissions confirmation. NMF is a golden ticket. Congrats!

Is there a deadline for the honors college? I am a NMF and am curious to know if it is something urgent to apply for.

As far as I can tell, there is no deadline but I would apply as soon as possible because the honors college may be rolling admissions (I got my honors college acceptance a couple weeks after I applied)

If you’re NMF, just apply. It’ll take less than five minutes. Just write “National Merit Finalist” in the essay boxes and you’re good to go. No need to write the essays.
