Automatic Full Tuition / Full Ride Scholarships

There is one full tuition scholarship given to ONE student each year. The 28/1250 qualifies you to compete for it only (which involves a full day of interview, essay and events).

Capital is very generous with merit and need-based aid but full tuition is NOT automatic with those scores.

Do there exist highly selective engineering colleges where a student could double major in engineering and international relations and still graduate in four years?

^Try asking in a Search forum thread, rather than in a random question on a scholarship thread.

namaste…your question doesn’t belong in this forum. Make a new thread with your question. This is a thread about ASSURED MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS…it’s not a thread about double majors and graduating in four years.

For others reading this thread:

Alabama’s application for Fall 2013 is now LIVE. Bama began accepting apps around a week ago (which is about 2 weeks earlier than usual). So, if you’re going to apply, do it now…it’s fast and easy…no essays or LORs req’d. After you apply, you’ll get a follow up email a few days later. Use the info from the email to set up your MyBama acct so you can apply for the scholarships. Although the scholarships are ASSURED for stats, you have to submit the scholarship app.

m2ck - if the student is still going to be taking the ACT and SAT again in the fall, is it advisable to wait until the results come in before submitting an application? IOW if you don’t want them to evaluate the application based on the current state of information?

No, do NOT wait to apply. This is how it works…

If a student were to apply with test scores that are for a lower scholarship, then the school will FIRST award that scholarship, BUT, when the student retests and does better, then the school awards the larger one. So, no harm in applying early.

Frankly, it’s always better to get your app in early, no matter what your stats are. Any later change in stats will get noted and appropriate scholarship changes as long as they meet the deadlines.

And, since Bama’s acceptance rate has dropped significantly (to the low 40s now), it’s always best to apply early. those with borderline stats are more likely to get accepted if they apply early. I don’t want to cause any fear…generally any student who qualifies for a good scholarship is going to get accepted.

FYI…Seniors must test by the following in order to have THOSE scores count for ASSURED scholarships…

SAT…November exam is the last accepted exam for scholarships
ACT…Octorber exam is the last accepted exam for scholarships

So, take the Sept and/or Oct ACT…and/or take the Oct and/or Nov SAT.

Thanks for this information. It is very helpful.

Ok, I’ll probably get chewed out since there isn’t an “automatic” full tuition for UT Dallas, but they do have “almost” automatic full tuition scholarships worth checking out:

[Academic Excellence Scholarship - Office of Undergraduate Education - The University of Texas at Dallas](http://oue.utdallas.edu/aes/)

university of new mexico has a bunch i think both full ride (leaving about only 3000 residual cost so i guess that’s full ride) and a full tuition one

[Undergraduate Scholarships :: | The University of New Mexico](http://scholarship.unm.edu/scholarships/index.html)

^^^

Are those ASSURED or competitive? It looks like the listed stats are for consideration, but maybe all get it if they have the stats??

UNM Regents’ Scholarship is not Automatic/Guaranteed. See description here under “Selection Process”:

http://scholarship.unm.edu/Resources/regents-scholarship-handbook.pdf</a></p>

UT-Dallas scholarships are not Automatic/Guaranteed.

Correction to Oakland University in Michigan - the full ride scholarship is only available to Michigan residents. Confirmed by the Financial Aid office today:

"The OU Presidential Award is available to Michigan residents only. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions does offer some out-of-state scholarships to entering freshmen students. For more information on those please view the freshmen scholarship flyer at: <a href="http://www.oakland.edu/scholarships.“>www.oakland.edu/scholarships.</a>”</p>

(Removed Oakland University - in-state only award.)

Updated comprehensive list sorted by state.

I have also attempted to calculate the residual cost of attendance (COA) given the scholarship award. NOTE, however, that this was calculated based on each individual college’s published Cost of Attendance, and these estimates may vary in how they are calculated and what costs are included.
