Now I am stressed out! CS hopeful here. . . .I hope I hear soon too!
@Grey007 Do you mind telling me your stat?
Because it is weird that you didn’t get decision yet. You finished requirements and have many credits.
@seesee12, (and @grey007) it is not really weird. The order of decisions does not mean anything. It is random. So hearing first does not mean you were a better applicant than someone who hears later.
@CompSci18 I heard most of decision for general admission is done in June or early july.
It’s different from cs or ce major.
The chance of acceptance for general admission in July is much lower than those in june.
I think at this time, someone who accepted should deny registering UW (for another university), then there will be space for us.
Guys, can I ask about winter transfer?
I heard fall transfer is largest and spring and summer transfer are for some majors.
I will apply for general admission, so I can apply for fall and winter only.
Winter admission is way smaller than falladmission?
I know there is no international transfer for winter.
@seesee12 I have a 3.89 college GPA with my lowest grade being a B. I work in the medical field already and I want to be a doctor. I think my personal statement was good, as I explained a personal struggle that made me drop to part time one semester. I’ve taken the general biology courses, general chemistry, math through calculus, Spanish through the required level. I took college classes while in high school which is really rare in my state. I took 3 AP classes in high school (school only offered 5). All other courses were honors courses.
@Grey007 You have great academic history, I don’t know why you didn’t get decision yet. But I think if someone in this thread get accepted, it will be you not me. T.T
Are you from instate cc?
@seesee12 thank you for that! No I’m out of state and transferring from a college- so not a university and not a community college.
@CompSci18 thanks! My stats: gpa 3.98
@Grey007 Maybe that’s the reason of late decision, but I think you will be accepted in July.
@thaipq but what else? Did you do any clubs or extra curriculars? Or something that you think made your application stand out? GPA alone isn’t what UW looks at I know of 4.0 students who got denied and I know f a 3.6 person from last year who got in.
Well, I didnt do much, I just did some tutoring in my college and some small personal projects.
And I think it depends on how heavy classes per quarter you’ve taken. For instance,
I took Math163, Phys222, CSC143, and Engl102 in last winter
I also took Math220, Phys223,Chem139, and Engl235 in this Spring
I proved that I managed my time well (taking 4 classes, still tutoring and researching)
Is that possible to take 4 classes and get all 4.0?
Are there many students who take classes like that?
@thaipq I see. I also took 4 classes in the winter (Math 152 phys 114 csc143 and american history) and 4.0’d all of them. And then I took phys221, math163 and csc143 in the spring. All of this while taking care of my two small daughters at home (I wrote about being a full-time mom and full-time student in my letter, so they know I do not have much time for extra curriculars) I was also Phi Theta Kappa and presidents list. GPA 3.87
Whoops, I meant CSC142 in the winter and 143 in the spring.
@CompSci18 I see, it’d help if you list all of your courses you’ve taken.
@CompSci18 @thaipq I have similar stats and haven’t heard back, keep patient and hopeful!
congrats by the way @thaipq , awesome news!
@thaipq I just got my Associates of Science, so I took everything you need to fulfill those requirements. As far as math and sciences go, I took the calc series, statistics, engineering physics 1 (and 114, but that one does not transfer), political sciences, economics, english 101, 102, technical writing, an engineering class from a university I was at before moving to Seattle, history, csc 110, 142, 143, . . .
(English is not my native language, so I did not need to take any foreign language classes)
I should mention, I took 15-20 credits every quarter. never less. And have two young kids with me whenever I am not in class, so it is like full-time school and full-time work
I missed how you found out you got in? Did your transcript load? Or did you get an email or letter? Congrats again!
@desunaito Good luck to you too!
