Guys, make sure you know each school’s audition policy and procedure. It also depends on whether you’re auditioning on site or at Unifieds. For instance, at least in years past, Purchase onsite will post the callbacks at the end of a section, and then if you are called, you have to stay. Of course, the chances are low, but you will want to have the schedule clear just in case. I know when my son did it we were there for something like six hours total (most of it waiting). Unifieds is different in that you wouldn’t expect to be there all day, usually. But definitely check with each college’s website. :-)

If Purchase runs it the same as last year, they have two groups a day. Morning and afternoon. My D went in the morning. There was a warmup with everyone then they split you into groups and each person is seen. The actual audition time and wait was around two to three hours before they post the callback list. They kept 6 people from the morning session and with the callbacks she was out around 12:30-1 for a 9:00 audition. Hope this helps.

Bisouu my D has Fordham at 10 the day that I choose too! I guess we will get an email giving us a time and if there is a conflict I will have to contact them. Kind of hard when they give you no choice.
Connections, there isn’t any info on Purchase’s website that I can find that talks about the length of time of the audition or callbacks. And there is a big note saying don’t call the conservatory to schedule your audition. “Must be scheduled online.”

drmamamom I can’t find anything either about the how long auditions are on the website. I have scoured that thing up and down. (it’s not very user friendly). I am thinking it might be easier to reschedule Fordham, but we are already pretty tight that weekend. Hope to see you dramamom. :)

As we are trying to schedule Unifieds and such I just got an email from Montclair letting me know that the audition process takes about 15 minutes. I know some take a great deal more time so this might be good to know as you book different schools.

People at Fordham were so nice and accommodating. Since Purchase didn’t give us a time other than 9-5, We move Fordham to another day. Didn’t want to risk it.

Fordham said that the Unified audition takes 5 minutes…

bisouu, just as FYI, the audition itself may take five-ten minutes, but you should arrive at least a half hour before your allotted audition time to fill out forms, unwind, make sure you’re in the right place, prep, etc.

And while they certainly try to make sure the audition is at the stated time, there could be delays.

So when preparing for the auditions, make sure to have a cushion of around 1.5 hours for an audition that doesn’t have callbacks.

Bisouu I didn’t move our Fordham time. I am just crossing my fingers that the Purchase and Fordham auditions don’t overlap. I will cross that bridge when I come to it. I have read too that once you get to Unifieds it is possible to ask to change a time and it can usually be accommodated.

The girl I spoke with at Fordham was wonderful and very accommodating. We originally had an audition that was at 10:35 am but when I told her when our Hartt audition was she said, “I want your D to have a bit of downtime between auditions so let’s move Fordham to the afternoon”. She was very sweet. Said she had been through this process before and any opportunity to remove stressors was better. I have the direct line to the department if you want it.

This is a little off topic, but since I haven’t had anything to stress about in a couple of days, I think my mind has begun to overthink things. I have been over in the MT forum and there is a lot of chatter about prescreens. Do the straight acting programs want prescreens too? I haven’t seen anything on any of the websites I have gone to. Am I missing something?

bisouu, I believe that Ithaca does. Actually, I assumed that if there was a prescreen for MT, there was also one for acting.

For Ithaca, it’s both and so is Pace (I just checked the sites).

Thank you…My D is not applying at either school, so hopefully we are good.

Bisouu, if you have received confirmation of an on campus audition from a particular school, then by definition they don’t required a prescreen.

That was my thought since all of her auditions have been booked…I over think…Need to relax and have a bottle (or two) of wine.

HA!!! bisouu, I actually assumed you were asking for your friend’s daughter not yours since she’s all scheduled up!! I understand that you just needed something to obsess over in this current down time! LOL

It’s been mentioned here before that going to Unifieds can be a way to sneak past prescreenings, or even get an audition somewhere where you didn’t get through the prescreening.

Has anyone received a confirmation e-mail from Purchase after registering for an audition? I just realized we haven’t received a response from them yet. I registered the first day the registration system opened.

I believe last year it did take awhile before we could sign up for the audition date, even after the website said it had all the materials necessary for the application. But if it’s been a long time, you could always (you, of course, meaning your student) send an email.

We have also not received a confirmation from Purchase. Also signed up for the audition on one of the first days it was available.
