I'm deciding between colleges (UCSD and UIUC) at this point and was wondering what the average GPA for bioengineering majors was. I'd appreciate a percentile distribution, although what I really want to know is the percentage of students with a 3.5 or higher.

As a little background info, I'd like to go into patent law and need a fairly good GPA for law school admissions. Only considering average GPA, is it advisable for me to attend UIUC?

i would like to know this too!! bump

No one keeps track of this info. And if they did, it would not be publicly available. And if it was publicly available, I don’t see how this would help you…

To get >3.5 in engineering you need to study, know the material and do well on exams. College is like a full-time job; put in the effort and you’ll get the GPA you want. Party Thursday-Sunday, and say goodbye to law school (or at least T14’s if that’s what you want).

I’m sure you’re a fantastic students (you got into bioengineering at a top engineering school). Most kids in the program are equally as smart. What sets people apart is their motivation and work ethic. Talk to upperclassman and see what worked for them. There are law students on campus (at the law school) who were bioengineering undergrads here too. Find them, ask them how they managed to study and get a mentor.

my $0.02

Ah I see. Thanks, I appreciate the advice
