<p>In addition to the alternative of a median, I think the average could work if they cut off the top and bottom 10% of the accepted GPA's to prevent outliers from skewing the average.</p>

Ive been hearing all these rumors and scary thoughts that universities give away qualified students because a school needs that student. what do I know you sometimes never know why so many people that are overqualified get rejected, hint hint, freshman and international students included. i've only applied and heard these rumors which coincidently some of them have come from this forum. I am scared like everyone is, and ok as far as the majors are concerned yeah I am concerned because a school like UCLA might think I am not a focused student since for other schools I have another major in mind I hope they only focus on essay, activities and GPA of course, not what I have applied to other schools. eveything should be fair game. Oh and now I ve been hearing about the governement budget excuse that better not become some random excuse for rejecting good students we're not responsible for whats happening in the economy. i am sure all of us want a good education and want to be as highly qualified as possible. ok and I do remember that other question look instead of putting the blame entirely on me why dont you ask the person that talked about not letting me watch TV for a week because I applied to other majors. I DID NOT SAY THAT! its pinkerfloyd she's trying to be very theoritical and not straightforward I dont really get what she is saying, but sure sounds rough. Now some other people have been saying that its false. does anybody know about this television punishment and of course the other things i just said??</p>
<p>I mean, pinkerfloyd said that if UCLA admits me they will punish me for 1 week and not let me watch TV on my dorm, I promise to all of you I did not say this. <p>so like '2 / 8' would mean that 50% of the sample/population fell between 2 and 8, 25% below 2 and 25% above 8</p>
