I've been searching around on the Cornell website for the average GPA per semester or upon graduation or something similar. Anybody have any links or ideas?

To my knowledge, this information is not published. The only thing that is published are the median grades for individual classes. But I defer to others who may know differently..

i saw a graph a while ago that some user posted, its at around 3.5 or something

There's no way of finding out... if I had to guess, I would say around a 3.1 or 3.2 at least for CALS.

I highly doubt that it is anywhere near a 3.5. I'm pretty sure that the cutoff GPA for Ho-nun-de-kah (top 20% of rising seniors in CALS) is usually ~3.5-3.6 which means that only 20% of students have a GPA higher than a 3.5/3.6. Additionally, less than 25-30% of students in CALS graduate with latin honors.

It's probably in the 3.3-3.4 range, on par with the other Ivies. High grades are not hard to come by if you're hardworking or smart.

My guess would be around a 3.0-3.1. I highly doubt the average would be anywhere near a 3.5.

I hope - makes me feel a little better.

i heard avg gpa for engineers is about 3.0~. i assume overall should be higher

Turns out it is 3.73

where did you find that number?

is it from all of Cornell or a specific college?

it's not a 3.73 ignore that.

I know. I was attempting to further lower soccer_guy's self-esteem. It would have been better if I put him further into debt at the same time.

Oh well.

Coup D'etat, I'm glad your so obsessed with me.

Creeper.

I heard average gpa for freshman engineers is 2.7 so probably 3.0 by senior year.

it's probably around 3.0 or slightly higher. at CAS graduation last year there was a minority proportion of latin honors graduates- maybe 20% of the class as a very rough, subjective estimate. that means ~20% with a 3.5 or higher, right? if you got a nice bell curve of gpa's across the college, the peak should be around 3.0-3.1, right? it would vary between colleges but CAS is the largest school, so it probably is at least a little bit representative. i don't know if you can find the concrete answer, however.

Ouch. With the supposed average GPA being a 3.0 (ish) I would personally pay out big dollars to anyone who graduates from Cornell with a 3.8-4.0 GPA. Obviously the only reason I'm saying this is because I'll only have to pay about three or four people.

So, what would it be for CAS? 3.2-3.3?
