I am an asian male junior high student.I've only been in the US for 4 years. I'm going to apply the cornell hotel school for ED next year.

I am in all average classes with no AP or honors at all (and i wont be taking any next year, because of my grade- need a A+ to get into honors or AP):(
ive been taking fine art for 3 years :(, does it hurt when they see it? should i drop art next year?

My GPA should be 3.725/4.6 the time when i apply.

My rank should be around 110-150 out of 512 students.

I am going to take the SAT on April 1st- hopefully will be 1800-2000 (who knows)

im really into the hospitality industry, please suggest me things that i can do to boost my chance.

Don't drop art!! Ahhhh. People need art in their lives. It stimulates the mind and helps you in MANY other subjects. Besides, it is (well, it Should be) fun!

Do well on the SATs and hope to get into some advanced classes next year. Either way, you should apply if that is your passion.

I'm sure you could get into AP classes with a little complaining/parental inervention. A+ is a ridiculous cut off, ours was 85 and people still got in with lower grades courtesy of annoying mothers.

i'm in the exact same boat... same type of student.. currently a junior, and I am interested in the hotel school as well.
some things i have heard, is that you need an internship in hospitality, like working at a hotel.. that is a big plus!

also, as much as grades are a big deal, also, your personality, and how you interact with people is important, because thats is key in the industry.

a thing i heard from a current student, is that you should continue to take a foreign language senior year, because thats good for hospitality as well.

there is a mandatory interview if you are applying to the hotel school, so I am pretty sure that is a big factor.

as for AP's, my school doesn't really have AP's, and I had brought this up with my college counsler, and she said AP's aren't really a big deal.

I do know that for the Hotel school, you DO need to take the SAT II's in math.

i haven't done the type of hospitality job i would like to do yet (aka working a restaurant or hotel), but i have interned at various stores, and a PR firm)

Can you explain how your weighted GPA works?
I think you have a chanceif you can write good essays and maybe try to up your EC's and SAT scores.

snappleyum or anybody else...why is sat ii math required. cuase i'm not the greatest at math...i mean, if you have like 4 other sat ii's, will it matter much? or is sat ii math a really big factor and sat ii math i or II?

hey, just wondering peopel who are applying RD or already got in Ed, did you gusy take math I or math II? cuase my level, i can take II, but yeah, since my math isnt' that great, maybe just get hopefully a higher score at math I? thanks!
