While you might find that it would be easiest to find a job in states with higher annual job openings you need to keep in mind something else. Higher job openings can also indicate areas where the Nursing shortage is most severe. In these states it may be relatively easy to find a job but you might find yourself in a nursing environment where units are short-staffed and as a result nurses are overworked. Our D works per diem in South Florida (the state with the second highest number of annual job openings available) as a CCRN while she is attending Grad School. At most all the hospitals she has been involved with she has found this problem to be the case. So be forewarned. Just something to keep in mind.</p>
