i didn't fill in the awards and ec section :(
i only had 7 awards and 7 EC, am i screwed????? (1400 sat I)

Are you saying you submitted your application without these sections?

-Ender

I think that means there being 8-9 spaces, and only 7 were filled. No, that's perfectly fine. No worries.

"I think that means there being 8-9 spaces, and only 7 were filled."

Is that what you meant, Newby? If so, I agree that 7 awards and 7 ECs will be fine. If you meant you left the entire section blank, I would send them an addendum.

IMO, it looks bad to fill the whole section, because if you have that many EC's, your probably arent as dedicated to them as you could be. I only filled out 6 of the spaces because I only ahve 2 major EC's...dont worry about it.

Yeah, they look out for "serial joiners"--it's OK if you have a bunch of EC in one area, like maybe Theatre Club, and a Theatre Troupe, and community theatre volunteer work, All-State Theatre, and then more ECs in another focus area. That shows your passion for that one area... But it's not OK to put down a volunteer club, art club, theatre troupe, Math club, Latin club, etc. ESPECIALLY if you don't have any leasership positions for them. People that just show up at meetings, pay the fine, eat the snacks, and write down the name on college apps are NOT what any big college is looking for. If you were heavily involved in most of your Ecs, you'll be fine.

Of course, if you are ACTUALLY talking about the fact that you didn't fill in those sections at ALL, then you have my deepest condolences. I would call them as soon as possible and explain. If so, you can try and turn it around to your advantage--say something like, "I'm the only applicant who has made a mistake and has been willing to admit it. That's the kind of person I am--taking responsibility and doing my best to rectify my own mistakes." If you can manage to make a negative into a positive, or even if you merely ATTEMPT it, they might say, "Now that's just pure moxie. Let 'er in!"

My entire life revolves around my extra curriculars. That's where I met my friends, that's how I spend my time. I am an officer in 4 clubs (VP, VP, Secretary, Captain): Math Club (MAO), NHS, Key, and Mock Trial. I have devoted a lot of time and effort in running and managing these clubs, but I'm afraid it will look like I'm just app padding.

(I already applied EA and only mentioned my passion for Mock Trial)

(I do, however, understand how being in 4 different service clubs and only having 50 service hours or something might look bad.)

i meant i filled 7 and 7 i didn't leave it blank, sorry for the confusion, but thanx for the reply, gl with you guys
i know i'll be needing it

xraven, if you get deferred, what about sending in a recommendation from whatever teacher sponsors one of those clubs?

I think I will!

How does Stanford feel about sending in additional stuff like that for deferred EA applicants?
