Award Package (or lackthereof) Question

Under "Award Package for 2011-2012" I don't have an award package (to be expected) but it doesn't say the COA or anything like that at all... all it says is

"No award information is available for you at this time, please contact the Office of Financial Aid if you have questions. "

Does this mean they have yet to make a decision on my fin aid package? My IDOC tax docs were received by Rice on Mar 4th (deadline is Mar 1st), so maybe it'll just take a few days? Or is it simply I have received $0? I don't even know how much it'll cost me if I want to go next year!

I have the same message under my financial aid status as well. My guess is that they have yet to make a decision. I also guess this means that they haven’t made a decision on our merit aid as well. I think it will be updated in a few days.

Oh, and I turned in all of my financial crap (ugh) on time, even IDOC.

^ same and I agree!

okay phew! though it is very possible that I get no aid at all so I was confused. I’m guessing they still would’ve uploaded merit aid already though right?

It seems more like they haven’t made a decision, as they would probably notify you that you didn’t qualify for a need-based award if that was the case.

Merit comes in the admission packet usually. The results of aid should be out soon

For some reason, I am able to view my financial aid award? Either way I’m extremely grateful that i was awarded the Trustee Scholarship! :)

My D could see her merit aid, but nothing else. Hopefully FA will be coming as well.

Does anyone see any reference to Rice’s National Merit Award on their Award Package? I know it’s only $1,000, but S’s package makes no mention of it. It could be that he just hasn’t named Rice as his #1 choice with the NM Corp. people, but I’d feel better if it were on his Award page.

Yes, as it is merit aid. Additional grants etc. from financial aid, I believe will be released later

So if it says "No award information is available for you at this time, please contact the Office of Financial Aid if you have questions. "

Can I assume I didn’t receive any merit aid, but financial aid is still being processed and not out yet?

Just as an update I got my acceptance package in the mail today and the letter inside says I do not qualify for financial aid (as expected). No merit aid.

^^^^
I was kind of disappointed to see that the NM scholarship would be taken out of our need-based aid right now- so I guess kids receiving aid already would be better off going for the one time $2500 award?
(However, I should note Rice has been more than generous with me so far :)).

I just got the $2.5k NM award… am getting no need based aid so I’m wondering if I can decline the $2.5k and get the Rice $1k/yr scholarship instead? Or is it I can only be offered one? I know for sure I can’t get both but… Also I think the college sends out the NM scholarship later on (once you’re already enrolled?)

Did anybody get the engineering scholarship?

I just dropped off my documentation of citizenship at their financial aid office yesterday, and while I was there, the guy told me my financial aid should be updated on my ESTHER by today… and it hasn’t been yet.

Can we assume that if we haven’t heard anything about merit aid yet we didn’t get any? We, like someone said above, might not qualify for financial aid (Wellesley says we don’t :/) so I’m not sure if this means that we will get money but Rice hasn’t had time to process it yet, or that we don’t get any at all…

If you check the green sheet that came with your acceptance letter, it says merit aid notification is sent at the same time as the admission notification. So…I’m assuming that if we didn’t get anything with the letter then we didn’t get any merit aid.

Acceptance letter wasn’t in the mail today… so I have to wait till Monday. :(

Merit aid would post online though, independent of financial aid.

Merit aid posted online and merit aid in letter were the same.
