Im currently a sophomore going into my junior year of high school this upcoming fall. The first two years i did not do very well in school-

Fresh- 2.8( (private issues)
Soph- 3.1( private issues)

I plan to do really well junior year, Im taking three AP's and honor's courses. I want to get into a good school but i feel that my first two years have destroyed my chances. Will the college reps be impressed if i go from a couple of D's to str8 A's? Are there any ppl who have gotten into top schools with low GPA's?

Schools I want to attend: NYU, UPENN, UMD, Conn College, Northeastern, York University, Boston University...

if you have a REALLLY good reason for those grades, then you might have a shot IF you get straight A's.

When applying would i inform them the reasons for it? Or would i just place it in my essay or something.

Try really hard this schoolyar and gert some straight A's to raise your GPA. About explaining - maybe your guidance counselor can write a letter for you as well you writing a letter? A ton of kids at my school failed the University of Chicago pilot programs for pre-calculus, and some even got their acceptances rescinded, but the guidance counselor and college counselor made phone calls and wrote letters explaining why they failed, and it turned out well. My friend who got into Cornell failed gym and band... but that's all I can think of. Good lukc.
