Awkward question for college girls...

Yeah, the title says it, but it's kind of important.
How do you wash your lingerie? At home, I wash everything by hand daily, since washing machines ruin delicate fabrics like that very quickly, and I don't like collecting underwear in a hamper. But how to go about it in a college dorm?

You can get small laundry mesh bags for your delicates. That way, they won't get ruined in the wash, and you'll be able to find everything in one place. It may also save you some time.

If that idea doesn't appeal to you, you can still hand wash things in the bathroom sinks. I'm sure you won't be the only one.

Thats why you should buy things that you can throw in the washing machine and not worry about. I say to invest in some normal underwear.

If you don't, they sell mesh bags for delicate washing. There is usually a gentle setting on the washer too.

i never knew girls put this much time into underwear care.

another reason its great to be a guy haha

i make sure to buy underwear that can just be washed in the machine..but buying a lingerie bag to throw in will work if you don't want to do that. also you can hang bras up to dry. my roommate did that and it was pretty funny when our guy friends came over to hang out, but i guess they stayed pretty pristine?

the worst is when you find thongs/gstrings in your laundry because some girl left it in the dryer.

Eh, only if it gets you into trouble. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind.

I remember freshman year I did my laundry and found a pair of bright red panties in with my clothes after drying. I put up a FOUND sign in the laundry room, but nobody responded. :(

lol RacinReaver I think I would have rather just ask around

either get a mesh bag and hope that your college washing machine's delicate setting really is delicate

or bring a bucket and some woolite with you (that's what I did) and just wash the really nice stuff by hand...but you're not going to want to do this that often, which is why I recommend buying some lingerie from Victoria's Secret...it's pretty nice and most of it is machine washable, even in horrible college machines. Also, never put your lingerie in a college dryer...it will DESTROY it.

^^all my lingerie is from victoria's secret, and i always wash and dry it in the school laundry room. i don't make a separate load for delicates, either, and my stuff's always been fine.

As long as the dryer is set on medium or better yet low, you should be okay with most Victoria's Secret stuff.

do other people look at you wierd if you handwash lingerie?

^ It shouldn't be a big deal as long as you don't make it into one. They might make jokes if you have your lingerie hanging around the room, but they probably won't think any different of you (besides maybe a thought of "omg why doesn't she just make it easy and throw it in the washing machine since that's so much easier. whatever it's her time she's wasting"). Just don't make it into a big deal and it will be fine.

Yeah...I guess I might just get a mesh bag then. It's not like I'm bringing elaborate silk and lace underwear.

Just don't wear underwear.

"Just don't wear underwear."

The simplest solutions are always the best, huh?

Yes. Going commando is cool, except it hurts for us guys.
