That’s disappointing. It’s kind of saddening to see such good teachers so distraught over students that don’t care. There really isn’t much that the school can do about a situation like that, though.

Most just end up transferring to better districts, and our own high schools just get worse and worse >.< However, I guess there’s a good side too. Once they find a student that shows potential and interest they’re willing to stay after school everyday for hours and meet for breakfast on weekends to ensure they get the score they deserve. My school’s APUSH teacher has been teaching for over 25 years and has never gotten a 5 ( although he did get four 4’s two years ago lol). He will be retiring next year. I’m really hoping to make it happen for him :)

My hot teacher emailed the class because our scores were the best she has ever had. I emailed her back a thank you email and asked if I she would add me on Facebook. I was expecting a “you’re welcome response” and most likely a no with the Facebook request since she doesn’t add former students. But instead, she hasn’t said anything, and no friend request either. I feel very awkward.

That’s awesome! I always love whenever teachers go the extra mile and meet up with you/a group of people for study groups and whatnot… it always helps. It kind of sounds like my Euro teacher this year… even though he left

I hope you can get that 5 for him! :)

I would have sent my art history teacher a thank you message, but she congratulated me on my braggart-esque Facebook status before I had the chance to do that. What a lurk. :P

Zero people passed AP Euro at my school…out of the 70 who took it. Only people who did some SERIOUS outside studying got 2’s.

My AP World teacher was crap. We all had to self-study :(.

A lot of us got 5s though. After all, we do go to the 4th best school in the US.

My World teacher sent us all “thank you” cards in the mail, uh … I didn’t get that 5 because of you, lady.

So my teacher actually thanked her students lol.

Unfortunately, in my case it’s definitely the teacher. He’s never taught higher than Pre-Calculus and that was at a school in a very bad part of my town. He transferred to my district (top of the public schools in the state) and he said he wasn’t used to having students who actually wanted to learn. We were all willing and able to learn and put in the work in the class, but he wasn’t. I was in his first class of the day and he was always putting together lessons in our class. He was never, ever prepared and it was just awful.

He actually complained that we all cared about learning and getting good grades. I was like, really dude?

can i say thats one of the funniest posts ever on cc
that ****s hilarious
oh my god, im dying

So many kids fail AP tests because
- Their school forces them
- Their school pays for the exam (I understand financial need, but paying 80 dollars for a test really motivates you to not blow it off)
- Bad teachers (can’t blame it all on the teacher though, you have to study)
Not doing all that can really help AP scores (my school had an 87% passing rate)

I wasn’t very close with my APWH teacher this year so I think it would be kind of awkward to email her (and she doesn’t have internet access over the summer either)

^ I agree that coughing up upwards of $90 per test is quite the motivator. But what I hate about my school is that they don’t cover any of the cost (this year I paid $472 for 5 tests) BUT they will not, on your transcript, label the class you took as “AP” unless you sit the exam.

I texted my ap bio teacher about my 5. We were both pretty pumped

No it’s not awkward at all. If you appreciate a teacher, you should show that appreciation.

I would have emailed my teachers, but the entire district decided to change emails -.-. So I’ll just have to wait until September I guess.

It’s only awkward if you make it awkward.

My mom forced me to do it… even though my teacher doesn’t check her email at all in the summer!

I can’t imagine it being awkward, considering you getting a 4 or 5 makes them look good as a teacher even if they suck!

meh, i asked my teacher if I could ta for her the upcoming year, she was like yea sure! Then I realized I barely know her but she was hella nice to every1 else so I was like oh well maybe it’ll be fun. Plus, I think I failed the ap exam ( why the hell did collegeboard not give me my scores yet) while all her other students mostly got 5’s. Gonna be one helluva awkward year LOL.
