I was just assigned to Aycock, and I wanted to get some opinions on it? It seems like its a lot smaller than the other dorms, and more out of the way, as its not on the main quad. How does this affect relations with other students? Any other info on Aycock would be great as well.

I lived in Aycock my freshmen year on the first floor. Back in 2006 it was coed floors split half guys half gals. No idea how it is now.

1) Location: Aycock’s location is great, literally steps away from the end of the bus stop where people get on so it’s super convenient. Back when I was there printing was across the quad but it wasn’t such a long walk, just across the quad and maybe they have printers in dorm common rooms by now idk.

2) Small dorm means everyone gets to know everyone else. We were pretty close and pretty much hung out in the common room everyday

3) If you have a car, parking lot is directly behind the dorm

In the end, every dorm has its good and bad. But I definitely think Aycock was probably my best residential experience on campus of the 3 years I stayed in dorms. I lived in Edens and on Central 2nd and 3rd year and went off campus after that.

I loved living in Aycock. The rooms are the biggest on East, and because the dorm is rather small everyone gets really close. By the end of first semester I pretty much knew everyone. It is also right next to the bus stop. This is really nice because you don’t have to wait at the stop because you can just watch from Aycock. This is especially nice when it is raining or when it is really cold, because you wont have to wait outside.
