Ayn Rand Essay Contest

I've heard that the Ayn Rand Essay Contest is very competitive (you need sheer brilliance to "win"). Does anyone know just how much so? (I realize that this is a pretty subjective question since there are probably lots of winners who innaccurately think of themselves as average and lots of losers who inaccurately project their IQ at 180.) I'm interested in the Anthem contest this year, but will probably enter again for the Fountainhead contest if it seems worth my while, if it makes a difference.

Any here entered before? Results? I haven't read the book yet so an example essay wouldn't really help--yet.

you cant do both i think

anthem - 9 and 10

fountainhead - 11 and 12

i think

I know--I would do Anthem this year and Fountainhead next year, being a sophomore. Sorry.

Ayn Rand is such a brilliant writer. I've checked out the winning essays (you can find them on the official site).

Read them and see if you can compare.

I think I'm going to enter, but I don't feel like writing another essay on the Fountainhead.

has anyone in cc ever placed in this?

It's one of the well-known ones. If you intend to write to "win" don't bother. If you intend to write because you like it, well then by all means.

By "win" you mean win, period, as in, even the smallest amount of money?
