I'm majoring in Linguistics at William and Mary however W&M doesn't have a Linguistics department, it is interdisciplinary from the English and Anthropology departments for the most part. Does anyone know if having an interdisciplinary degree will affect the strength of my application to graduate schools. The Linguistics program is pretty small here but I believe it is rigorous and thorough (but not having any experience in other Ling departments I can't really compare).

Also, when people talk about grad applications on this board they are usually talking about the hard sciences where laboratory research is regularly done. My linguistics program doesn't really have any "research" being conducted other than whatever research is done for normal classes. I plan on writing an honors thesis which I have to declare my junior year (I'm currently a sophomore) so I suppose that will be the only research done on my part. Does anyone have knowledge of other linguistics undergrad programs and if any research is conducted at those departments and whether grad programs are looking for such experiences?
