B.A. in Individual Field of Concentration, how does it work?

Hi everyone,

I’m starting UCLA as a transfer this Fall, and am majoring in Political Science. I’ve been thinking of minoring in Film and Entrepreneurship, and looked into the courses, and found out that I totally can (but it’ll cost me two summers).

But I ran into the Individual Field of Concentration major, and figured if I could find a way to mesh Entrepreneurship and Film into one major, I can not only “double major,” but I could probably also save time through courses (instead of taking roughly 16 courses for both minors, I could take 10 and just call it a major).

So I looked into other colleges that might offer a mesh of these two majors, and found “Screenwriting & Entertainment Management”. UCLA offers courses that might create this major (a mix of management courses, screenwriting courses, and business entertainment courses). How would I get started? I would really like to major in something like this alongside Political Science, so I know that I need to get started as soon as possible. I couldn’t find too much information on IFC, so has anyone here done it? How does it work?

In case anyone’s interested, the courses I’d want to take for this proposed major would be:

Pre-Reqs
-Introduction to Business
-Principles of Microeconomics
-Intro to Mass Communications
-Introduction to Theater
-Introduction to Data Analysis
(finished all but data analysis, and I have to do it anyway for Poli Sci).

Major Classes
-Screenwriting Fundamentals
-Writing for Animation Series
-Nontheatrical Screenwriting for Film and Television
-In-Depth Introduction to Fundamentals of Screenwriting
-Intermediate Screenwriting Workshop
-Entertainment Economics
-Marketing, Distribution, and Exhibition
-Entertainment Law
-Overview of Contemporary Film Industry
-Introduction to Art and Technique of Filmmaking
