Actually A’s in regular classes are better than B’s. But a 3.7 uw gpa with 6 aps is better than. 4.0 with all regular classes.

marwaa9876, are you dense or something? We all have high expectations for ourselves because we all want to get into the best colleges. However, these high expectations do not corroborate having anxiety over such a triviality (getting a B in one of the hardest AP classes). If anything is going to keep you from college, it’s going to be focusing too hard on your academic side of your application and neglecting the holistic side of your application. My friend had an UW GPA of 3.7 and a high SAT score (around 2250-2300). Another one of my friends had a 4.0 and a 2400 SAT. The first friend got into Penn M&T and MIT, since he did over 800 hours of real community service and was president of two clubs dedicated to community service (in addition to being a nationally recognized debate veteran). The second one was rejected from MIT and Penn M&T because he virtually had no notable ECs.

Don’t work yourself up over such trivialities. Eric Furda (Dean of Admissions for UPenn) and Angela Herrera (Admissions officer at Cornell) explained to me at a joint information session (with MIT there as well and saying the same exact thing – I just don’t remember her name) that all they do with your GPA and SAT is glance over it to see what kind of student you are before looking and analyzing the rest of your application. Calm down and get over that B.
