Hi I am a student at a California community college .I am applying to transfer to UCLA,UC Davis, UC Irvine & UC Berkeley this fall. For now I have a 3.92 GPA,with my only B,up to now, comes from my English 1B course.
My intended major is math. For now I am having some difficulty in my Differential Equation class though I have had 2 Bs in exam up to now.I can still fix that but just in case the worst thing happen and I end up having a B in this math class will this end my chance at any of those schools?
Thanks for the reply. You are right may be I should not stress out too much. Its just that since I major in math naturally I would think a B in math will be bad. I mean I wouldnt be worried if that B is in other subjects.
Worst case scenario, you get one B in a major-related requirement - and your major isn’t even impacted. You’re fine. Just keep pushing throughout the rest of the semester.
I’m applying as a Stats major. I’m taking DE, Linear and Calc 3 this semester and I think I’ll get one B as well. It’ll be my first as well so I don’t think I’ll worry that much.
Thanks you guys. How about my chance at each of these schools? Is it a must for all math students transfer to UC Berkeley or UCLA to have just straight As in math?
I have read that MIT has accepted freshmen who got an B in calculus in high school. I think these schools recognize that everyone can do less than perfect work at times.
When you took math at your CCC, you probably found that your teachers sometimes made mistakes when doing math in front of the class. Everyone does it.
