So my final semester exam for World History Honors is in three days. Right now my quarter grade is a 85! last quarter grade was a 91...That means I HAVE to get a 98 for my semester exam to get an A for my semester grade. If i get a B i will be devastated ... it feels like that will kill most of my chances to get into top ivy schools...
Have you every had a situation similar to this? how did you study? Is there any possible way for me to retake this online and just drop this grade entirely??

Dude, if you think that that grade will make or break it for you when it comes to ivies, then chances are… you won’t get in with that mindset regardless of either scenario. One grade is not going to change the ivies’ mind. Don’t worry. If everything else is stellar, I wouldn’t worry then.

Of course I know that getting even all A’s won’t get me into an ivy but i just never gotten a B before. :(

Sorry but no, even if by some force of nature you pull out a 98, admission officers will know how close you were to a B and pass right away. I’d suggest 3 years of community college to maybe pull off a semester in Brown or Columbia. This is very unlikely though, so just give up on your dreams now. Hurts less.

One B- esp. a high one will barely make a difference. Try ur best on the exam but don’t kill yourself
@Quacoh- and the ■■■■■■■■ goes on…

I wouldn’t call it ■■■■■■■■, I was showing him the error of his thinking by being highly sardonic.

Quacoh, the whole “your going to community college thing” has been rehased so much, the humor has been washed out of the statement. It’s just not funny anymore.

Dude, if you think a B will break your Ivy application, then you probably won’t get in anyway
