BA in Econ + MSc in Finance = 5-6 years. BSBA w/ option in Finance + MSc in Finance = 6-7 years.

Hello, I am in a bit of a pickle here. I go to a California state school that does not have a big name like SDSU or Cal Poly. The BSBA program at my particular university requires a 24 unit lower division core which is pretty common for business programs. To attain a BSBA w/ option in Finance would take me slightly upwards of 130 units, and probably 5 years. If I plan to go on to attain an MSc in Finance, why would I waste my time getting the Business Admin. degree when I could just get a degree in Economics in 3 or 4 years and then jump to grad school after that.

Also, I am looking to get my Master's degree in Finance online, and have seen recommendations for CSU-Global, Kaplan, and University of Michigan- Dearborn.

Is this a practical approach? It would also help to include that I personally love finance and economics classes the same. I am equally interested in both topics and love the education of money and how it runs our world.

Also, it would be prudent to state my goals. I plan to start a business, perhaps while still in school, and am trying to make best use of my time. I plan to oversee financial operations of said business as CFO. Should it fail, then I plan to pursue CFO type jobs in the future.

Sure, get the econ degree and then the MFin.

However, other than what you learn, I doubt that any of the online MFin degrees would do much for you, though.
