BA/MD program

anybody know of a BA/MD programs? Like when you enter the university as an undergraduate, ur guaranteed into medical school?

what exactly do you want to know about them?...

Well...they're uber competitive...(ex. University of Rochester REMS BS/MD program had ~600 applications this year and only ten kids got in)

If you get into one, GO there. The advantages you gain are priceless. No need for MCAT (in most cases), no worry about applications while your friends are losing their minds....Most importantly, given that ~50% of med school applicants don't get in ANYWHERE and you HAVE a spot at a decent med school, you have an awsome advantage.

Many of these programs treat the kids that are in them like royalty. I don't know about other schools, but at UR, these kids are basically guaranteed an awsome clinical volunteer position (no menial tasks) and it's a lot easier for them to get research positions. Many doctors specifically request for these kids to shadow them...so ye, BS-BA/MD is awsome!!!

sorry, forgot to answer your original question. Ye, if you get in, you're guaranteed a spot in that school's med facility.

Here's a list of all of the colleges that offer such programs:
<a href="http://services.aamc.org/currdir/section3/degree2.cfm?data=yes&program=bsmd%5B/url%5D">http://services.aamc.org/currdir/section3/degree2.cfm?data=yes&program=bsmd</a></p>

Link by jersh55 is not all inclusive. It lists BS/MD from combined program within that university system. I know that Lehigh has a 7 year BA/MD with Drexel College of Medicine.

if you go to the combined program thread you'll find more info
