Bachelor's Degree Preferred?

I want to apply for a job but under the Experience section it says "Bachelor's Degree Preferred." I am currently working towards my Bachelor's Degree; I am in my first year, but I have a pretty good amount of experience in the industry.

I have applied for and received jobs/internships with other organizations in the same industry where I was younger than the typical applicant. This job is an entry level position, but probably a step up from some of the other positions I have been in.

Will I likely be excluded from this position because I am still in college? When positions are listed as Bachelor's Degree Preferred, is it really a preference or more of a requirement?

(I'm pretty sure that I'm going to apply for this because I figure that it can't really hurt. The worst they can really do is say no and/or that I'm too young at this point in time.)

those type of jobs are for people who have already graduated from college, or a higher learning school.

There’s a ton of jobs at my company that is listed, “High school degree required.” But everyone has a 4 year degree. It might list BA preferred but the majority probably have a BA. If you have the equivalent experience, i’d say apply. If not, its probably not worth your time.

What if you have tons of advanced standing credit + pre-existing research?

For the “Bachelor’s Degree Preferred” jobs, it sounds like they’re looking for someone to fill a full-time/permanent position not just use him for 2 months.
