Great Rec's

I know my GPA is a little low, Sophomore year killed me! But Junior year, I almost got a 4.0 both semesters.
Hopefully I will be getting All A's this semester. NOT APPLYING EARLY

Based on numbers alone Chicago is a bit reachy - but not totally out of your league. If you like Chicago and feel it would be a good fit - if you don't go down the engineering path - by all means apply.

You may also want to look at schools that offer both engineering and liberal arts - check out U of Rochester and Case Western.

Congratulations on your junior year grades, and keep up the good work for your first semester senior year.

Probably not - but don't worry about it. When you submit your mid-year grades, that information will make it to admissions. In addition, your hs transcript may include your first marking period grades. Remember, the admissions people will read your transcript, not just look at a single number. You have a strong program so that is to the good.

I'm telling everyone this this year, but apply to the University of Pittsburgh. They have a great engineering program and give good scholarships. Their honors college is very "UofC" in that they emphasize a sort of humanities core in the honors course offerings. I'm an incoming Chicago 1st year, but I found Pitt Honors to be a surprisingly good option for a lot of Chicago-style thinkers when I looked at it last year.
