The Alaska State Troopers were not very helpful with helping me to get my background check paper work done. They would not fill out the USNA form (department policy) or mail in the background check (that I had to pay $20 for) to USNA with an envelope that I stamped and addressed. Needless to say, I am a little bit frustrated. Will USNA care if I send in just a standard notarized background check from my own address?

Call the Admissions office and tell them what you're up against. Chances are they will take the notarized background check.

We're in Pennsylvania, and all police record checks here are now done on-line, with the resulting report returned directly, on-line, to the person who initiates the request (in our case, me, requesting a check on my son). I called Admissions and asked if we could send this report in ourselves. They said yes, that's fine. The only issue would be if the more extensive background check they initiate after I-Day turns up something that didn't show up in what we sent. In that case, there'd be some explaining to do.

It sounds like a lot of people have trouble with this. I guess PD's are very reluctant to give out information. Lucky for me I have a lot of friends who are Officers.
