Bad 2nd semester junior grades.

Here is a history of my grades:
Freshman: 3.8/4.0
Sophomore: 4.1/4.1
Junior: 3.7/3.2

I really messed everything up and I’m not sure what I can do now. The reason why I got a 3.2 is because I had 3 classes at 89% and none of my teachers would round it so I got stuck with that gpa. I feel like I messed up my whole future. My cumulative is 3.8 with junior grades included. Will good senior grades affect my apps or do colleges only look at sophomore and junior year?

Some schools will look at 9-11th grades along with 12th grades (Mid-year report). Some schools will look at 9-11th and some will look at 10-11th for their GPA calculations. Much depends upon which schools you are targeting.

Your grades have been on a decline so the best you can do is do well senior year to show you haven’t “lost it” yet. Don’t worry first jr year semester, I had a worse situation with a worse overall GPA. It went for me F: 3.0/4.0 Sop: 3.2/3.8 and Jr: 3.0/3.75. First semester I had 3 A’s and a really low B. Since I wanted to keep my B, I focused on that class, but the finals for the other three classes dropped them to B’s so it wrecked my GPA. If only it went Jr year: 3.75/3.75, but no, because of that bs, I have a 3.46 GPA that ruined my chances of a future. Just stick it out senior year.

No, the reason is not that no teachers would round.

The reason is that your grades weren’t high enough for them to round up. It’s a matter of numbers, not choice.

The good news is that the difference between an 89 and a 90 is more a matter of perception than anything else.

Make sure that your first set of Senior grades are where you want them to be-- that whatever issues you had last year are over and that you’re giving your schoolwork the attention it needs.
