Bad senior first semester - how do i make this up?

I had straight As in my junior year, but now it looks like I will be having something like 2.~ish GPA this semester. Im applying RD to all the competitive schools, and now I'm really crushed because my courseload is not that difficult and my school is really average rural public.... what should I do?
Will working hard to get my grades back on track in 2nd semester help?
If so, how would I put it in my college applications? Send my quarter grades to colleges by mails?

Because from what I've heard so far, your 2nd semeter senior year grade doesnt mean a jack in RD admissions, but you only need to keep it just high enough that you won't be screwed when you get accepted and have to turn 2nd semester transcript in before enrolling.

Help! Im really desperate

Have your counselor write a letter explaining your grades, and any possible outside reasons for the drop.

does it have to be the counselor, not your teachers?

he's really stern, and i dont think he will buy any reasons i provide him with...

in case my second semester quarter grades come back on track, can i have

that sent out to colleges i've applied to around say, mid~late feburary?

It can be the teachers, especially if they note how hard you work in class.

As for your other questions, I don't know.
