<p>For the common app, is it to 'edgy' to write about having gay parents? I feel that it's a central part of my life, but I don't want to risk offending anyone. The essay would be more about the kind of person it made me, not so much advocating for gay rights or anything.

<p>In my own opinion, I don’t think it’s an issue, unless maybe if you were applying to some really religiously affiliated school that has a problem with gay rights. I mean, I would think most colleges would be interested in seeing that extra dimension, which is, after all, what makes you an interesting person.</p>
