Ok, I'm sweating UCLA decisions now @@. April is here.
Congrats to everyone who got into SB, UCI, UCSD etc~!

I got an F and a D my first semester at CC (Fall 06) Bad times.. Personal Problems, the usual.

but all my subsequent semesters were like 4.0 , 3.4 , 3.6 , 3.0, 3.5

i got into sd and irvine so far, maybe that's an indicator it doesn't affect me O_O? What do you guys think, will this murder my UCLA app? Thanks

I'm at like a 3.43 gpa now and TAP certified for UCLA, Linguistics major, (yes I really do enjoy Linguistics).

(As a last resort, visit your counselor and ask about academic renewal for your first semester. It'll wipe off the entire semester grades so they're not included in your GPA, which would be a good basis for appeal in case the worse happens)

thanks for the comments guys, i guess i deserve some of the harsh ones because I've been a dick too some >:).

But what do you guys means "i'll be fine" does that mean that my first semester will go against me somewhat or be viewed as something positive since I show improvement and have above 3.0 all subsequent semesters, you know that kind of feedback :D

your chance of getting in is prolly slimmer given those grades on your transcripts. However, the admission will look at your grade trends and also your personal problesm if you mentioned it somewhere in your application.

it depends I have the same thing but my whole essay was about that semester and gave excuses. I do have a major hook up at UCLA though, but it wont guarantee my acceptance into BizEcon.

If you showed improvement it can actually look good to the admissions people. It shows that you have developed character and grown as a person since your first semester.
