Hey guys, I have a 1460 on the SAT but an ABYSMAL GPA. My GPA is cringes 2.85 unweighted, 3.85 weighted (according to my school's weird system). My CR is like 62nd percentile when weighted, but only like 47th when unweighted... :/, but I'm in the IB program and have taken 9 pre-IB/honors courses and 15 IB/AP courses (no regulars...ever). I dont have much in the way of EC's, just spanish club, film club, 1 yr boxing, 1 yr student government, 80 hours of community service at a local elementary school, and some trips to europe, africa, and south america (if they count?). I applied to University of Oregon, University of Washington, University of Connecticut, University of New Hampshire, University of Vermont, University of Montana, U of Kentucky, and U of Georgia. Evaluate my chances... Crush my hopes or make me cry with tears of happiness.

u will get in keuntucky... not famililiar with other ones u live way out of my jurisdiction.

Alright, what's the highest GPA in your Class?

Did you submit the essay required by U of Oregon for applicants with GPA's below 3.25?
http://admissions.uoregon.edu/apply/freq.htm I think you'll probably go into comprehensive review at U of Washington as well. That will probably be the biggest reach on your list, assuming you have good references where required, wrote good personal statements, etc.

no at uga, admin will think you just studies for the sat all hs year long, do u have any trends in your gpa...? might want to "add" sports to your resume like a 3 years of bball just so it doesnt look like you sat around all 4 years

i have a strong upward trend... my junior year GPA was a 3.7 in all IB/AP classes. justperfect what do you mean "add" sports to my resume? like bs it?

will I get into at least one of them?? I REALLY like UVermont, UOregon, and UMontana (in that respective order), and reallly hope to go to UVT.

Don't schools look at Weighted GPA in admissions?

God I hope so.

Why are you applying to only state schools? I realize they are cheaper for in-state, but out of state..not much less than a private school. Or so i hear?

U.W. does not consider weighted GPAs. They will recalculate. You will be credited with a 2.85. They also use an Admissions Index. A 70 (3.7/1240 SAT) will get you an automatic admit if you are in state. The index is weighted 3-1 in favor of GPA. Your combination of numbers gives you a 43 AI. A high percentage of students get admitted with an AI of 57 and higher. 28 is required to be in comprehensive review. Conclusion: You will be considered for admission at the Un. of Washington, with a not very high chance of being admitted. But good luck.

O.K. so probably a no for U of Washington... I can live with that. What about my others... Anybody? BTW I live in Gainesville, Florida, so yeah, these are all out of state for me.

please?

The upward trend and hard classes are definately in your favor. I'm not familiar with your list, so I can't guess chances on it. However, I am curious as to whether you have thought about applying to any LAC's? Also, did you take SAT II's?

didn't take any SAT II's. I did kind of consider some LAC's, like Knox College and Rollins College, but I feel like I'd have more opportunities at a state/lg university.

I like the idea of a LAC for smart kids with high SAT's and scruffy GPA's. If you are at small school and you slack off, there is a chance that someone is going to notice and talk to you about it. If you are in a 200 person intro class at a big uni, no one will know or care. If the deadline is not too close, you might want to think about adding a LAC. You might even qualify for merit aid. Allegheny, Wooster, Kalamazoo, and Hanover come to mind.

I'll think about it, but right now I'm just worried about getting into the schools that I applied to already (listed in my first post).
