Okay, I'm only a freshman, so I know I shouldn't be freaking out like this, but I am a certified genius (I scored 152 on my IQ test), and one of the smartest people in my grade. I took the SAT in 7th grade and got a 1000. But I'm something of a slacker and my GPA sucks. Also I have no extra-curriculars. I plan to apply to Oxford, Stanford, Princeton, Yale, Harvard, & Brown. Is there anything I can do to ensure that I'll get in to one of those schools?

you need to be quiet...your only a freshman.

There's no way to ensure that you will get into HYP and other top schools. You need to bring your GPA up and get involved in ECs NOW, but only do things that you are interested in. Try to stick to your ECs and eventually get awards related to your interests.

hahaha....
a 154 makes u a certified genius ??
I guess im a genius too as well as all of my other classmates from 6th grade.

Yeah, stop slacking and stop using being a "certified genius" as an excuse, because college won't really care :)

A freshman... where is this world coming to ?

Congrats but get off the boards and study now if u TRULY want to go to an Ivy.

If you had such a high IQ, you would almost be guranteed to be the smartest person in your grade. 152 is really rare. Take a look at the bell curve. I think you're full of it. Any genius should get above 1000 in 7th grade.

Maybe he took one of those "fake" internet IQs.

I took 3 internet IQs in my life and they gave me numbers ranging from 140-210.

It doesn't matter what your IQ is. It matters how well you perform. If you can't deliver the grades, you will not have a chance at these colleges. You need to get very high scores preferably including freshman year, but certainly after it. Try to keep overall GAP uw above 3.75--that is an important distinction.

Do not think about the SAT at this time. Your 7th grade SAT is not important, except as a general benchmark, many kids improve 100 pts per year, but this may not hold if you are lopsided in your M and V scores. You should take the PSAT sophmore year and jr year as a guage, then do prep work if any areas are weak.

And you should persue EC activities that you love. They may develop into an important 'hook' for college, or may snap a great reccomendation from a teacher that likes your enthusiasm. Sports are good too.

But overall, it's grades that are most important to ensure a good college. Turning freshman grades around will still be ok, but you better start next semester.

It's way early to pick colleges.

rising grades work too. I got into carnegie with rising grades while my friend got deferred with a HIGHER overall avg gpa than me but the same grades over all 4 years.
