bad karma?!? oh jeeze...

I just got an email from Chicago saying that I hadn't submitted my early action application yet!! sigh but since i did pay, they understand that i probably meant to submit it, but closed the window before the app was completely submitted >.<
i wont be penalized, but ooooh jeeze, that really stressed me out. how are we supposed to know if they've received all the finanacial aid forms, transcripts, teacher recs, etc. if u chicago doesnt have an online tracking system? also, i left off Science Olympiad on my Activity's list and i dont know how serious this is...my essay talks alot about how i am both a violinist and mathematician and the only science/math activity i have listed is Math team.

That was pretty careless...but guess they'll forgive you.

it really was. i remember waiting for 10 minutes or so though after i clicked Submit...

They'll tell you eventually if you're missing something.

Send an email to your admissions rep about Science Olympiad or call admissions or send a letter if you think it's important enough to include.

wow, turns out there's quite a number of individuals who made the same mistake

Don't, Don't, DON'T worry about this. Chicago is GREAT about relaxing deadlines, letting you know when something is missing, etc. Think of the fact that you forgot to include something as a chance to communicate with them.

A lot of applicants on the forum seem really stressed out right now. While it's understandable, I am sure that the college students who are also contributing can confirm that you college-decision life WILL work out.

So why does someone with a username "columbiaplease" stress about applying to Chicago, EA nonetheless?

That individual could have changed his/her opinions on colleges since November, 2006.

seashore: thanks for those comforting words =) i never thought of it as a chance to communicate with them..

groovygeek: i didnt start this thread to discuss my username.

I don't think anyone should read too much into anyone else's username. However, I will also say that I have seen numerous students, including one of my children, apply simultaneously ED to Columbia and EA to Chicago. It's a pretty rational, consistent thing to do. They were all attracted to the schools' fairly similar core curricula (and Columbia's is even more of a communal experience than Chicago's, since almost everyone pretty much takes exactly the same courses at exactly the same time), urban location, and reputation, and would be happy to attend either.

Both colleges have plusses and minuses relative to each other. I don't think it's much of a slam at Chicago to note that Columbia's Upper West Side location, with the subway right at the main entrance to the campus, is perhaps a tad cooler than Hyde Park, and that you can walk to the Center of the World from there.
