Bad PSATs...what to expect from SATs?

So I didnt do so hot on my PSATs this year. I'm in AP English and when everyone else was looking at their scores, it seemed like I did a lot worse. I dont know what to expect when I take the SAT this March because I'm looking to go to UVA and William and Mary. I Have the grades and the EC but I dont know if I my SAT scores will be good enough. Should I be really worried? I mean I've been studying with classes and the book, but I dont know what to expect....

The questions on the SAT aren’t difficult, they are just twisted, especially the math. I got all my medium to hard questions right and like 5 easy ones wrong. Read carefully, that’s my best advice to you. All the knowledge that you need can be obtained by the 9th or 10th grade, it’s just testing if you can apply that in any situation.

make sure you take as many practice tests as you can. There’s a way of thinking to get the questions correct, and it helps to practice. Relax. If the scores aren’t what you want in March, then keep doing the ‘question of the day’ on the website where you sign up for the SAT’s, and take a few more practice tests to be ready.

i didn’t do great on my PSAT, it translated into like a 1800 on the SAT, but when i took the SAT for real, i got a 2260. just study a little bit and you’ll be fine

hah my PSAT was 1710, didn’t even know the format of the questions… for my SAT I got around 2200

You’re bound to have a score increase just by gaining knowledge and maturity from the time you took the PSATs to the SATS. But that’s not enough; to really see a large increase in your score you need to study. You are certainly not doomed if you didn’t do well on the PSATs. For many people, including myself, the scores are hundreds of points different.

I got an 1840 PSAT sophomore year, 1960 PSAT junior year, 2240 SAT senior year… but I did quite a bit of studying in between.

I had trouble working some fraction problems that were supposed to be easy, but I just didn;t know how to do the math and got some other hard ones right, so yeah just go to school every day and stuff and maybe get a peer tutor.
