Bad Sign?

I applied RD to the Hotel School, which employs rollings admissions. I have been checking religiously in the past 4 weeks, hoping to see some indication of the status of my application. However, as March 30th nears at a fast pace, I am worried that the lateness of the Hotel School's decision letter is a sign of rejection. I thought I had excellent numbers, essays, and interview for the school. Perhaps I was never meant to go there, but it would be nice if they could let me know ASAP. Anyway, am I safe in assuming that this is indicative of their lack of interest in me? Come on, they had many weeks to review just 700+ applicants. Also, do they leave the rejection letters for March 30th?

Hey, I hear ya. I've been frantically refreshing the Cornell decision page for 6 weeks (I know someone who heard Feb 15). I too, applied to the Hotel School. What's worse is that I called the admissions office to ask what's going on with my app, and the woman checked and goes:

"Oh, this is strange. They made your decision a while ago. I'm surprised you haven't heard yet."

Oh well. If I don't get in, I'll take it as some sort of sign that I am not meant to be around ice all year round.

I want to apply next year. when would be the best time to apply. I know this is rolling but what day is the 1 day I can apply?

so sweetnsarah, are you still waiting? The lady couldn't just tell you on the phone???? (haha, im just frustrated). I hope they'll put something on the website - like: "Wow, you have been checking this site for 2 months! We're sorry that you have not heard from us earlier. You are rejected!"

I want to take the cooking class!!!

Yes, I am still waiting. At this point I'd be relieved if they at least put something along the lines of "You suck we don't want you at our college."

At least I would stop wasting all that time refreshing every five seconds.

well, they only update once a day, around night time. so don't refresh every 5 seconds. things will work out fine. hopefully.

good luck sarah.

Good luck to you too!

I'm in the same boat as you guys. I actually applied to CALS, but what happened was they recently changed my major from my first choice to my second choice. I was shocked and extremely worried. My counselor had never seen this happen before, and he has had a lot of experience! Just hand in there though, decisions will come when they come (yea right lol). DO you know the approximate time they update the on-line page jemima? GL guys!

i definitely feel all yall's pain. i applied to ILR and haven't heard jack $h!t and it's really worrying me.

I applied Hotel on the last day apps were due.
I heared like 2 weeks ago.
Prolly rejected. or then they are playing games.
Who knows.

jokr95, are you saying that we're probably rejected? quite an extreme generalization, don't you think? i don't know about you, but my stats are nothing short of what the school seems to want.

the rest of you guys, just hang in there. perhaps they don't update the site frequently enough. now that everyone will be finding out in a week, we should just assume that we'll hear then. doesn't seem like the whole rolling admissions thing is working too well, but what can we do? good luck y'all.

lol im just playing
dont worry bout it.
i know last year, 95% of all rolling admission decisons came back the same day as other admissions were released. Its all good. Have faith in Cornell and it will have faith in you. You guys will own.

95% of all rolling admissions decisions came on the same day? that is just ridiculous.

so jokr95, are you going to attend the Hotel School? I still have to hear from others, but that whole cooking + business classes thing really intrigue me. i've got to admit though... the weather aspect doesn't look very favorable to me.

i guess i'll just relax and wait. thanks for the reassurance jokr.

jokr95,
are you sure that 95% of rolling decisions came out on march 30?

AJ1 and SArah....my DS was accepted in Mid Feb in to Hotel School...Have faith and good luck next year at Cornell!

i was figuretaviely speaking...
look guys dont worry
i thought i wasnt gonna get in
I hadnt heard from them for like ever.
the admissions process is so varied that no one knows whts happening.
think of it like this, you got like 5 or so days till you know whts up.

goooooood luck yaall

Oh well, at least I got into Carnegie Mellon yesterday, which was tied with Cornell for my second choice. It's absolutely nervewracking though, because I know that my stats are up to par with what Cornell is looking for.

sarah......CMU has a Hotel program??? And what is you FIRST choice

the admissions office has confirmed that more decisions will come out until the last minute (3/30). so no worries.

No CMU does not have a hotel school. Cornell is the only hotel school I applied for because I think hotel administration is the best job ever, but I'm not sure if it's for me. I applied to Cornell's Hotel School and figured if I don't get into that one, then maybe I'm not meant to go into that business.

My first choice is Penn Wharton. I applied early and got deferred. I'm a bit sick of waiting.
