Bad situations throughout H.S.

I had a very bad H.S. experience... so far. There was a traumatic death in my immediate family during freshman year and drug abuse in my family during sophomore and junior year. frankly, I need to get away to somewhere good. This is my story…what are my chances to get into the following: P.S. I know some of these are reaches, but they are my dream schools.

Harvard
Northwestern
CMU
UW-Madison-OOS
UVA-OOS

Stats:

--2200 SAT-Retaking
--33 ACT-Retaking
--3.7 GPA with upward trend.
--Awesome recommendations
--non-athletics state champ
--school club founder
--Very interesting EC's

if you have any questions…please ask. Any help would be great!

Uw and Uva are matches. The rest are high reaches.

thank you Trynamakeit… I kind-of thought that, but is there any chance, because some say those are reaches for everyone. Do I have an equal chance… Also by the way, I have the intention to start a pursuitist club to wherever I go, as I think it will add to the campus culture. Also would it help to do early admission/decision to one of them.

Honestly, I don’t think Harvard or Northwestern are out of your reach. I’m not trying to build up your hope just to crush you later, but let’s think about it. Harvard, Northwestern and other elite schools like them are looking for students with diverse backgrounds and experiences. If you happen to be a minority student or low-income, your background paired with your scores would definitely give you a shot. Again, not just trying to butter you up, but I definitely think it’s possible.

Your sat scores are not bad but they are on the lower side. Also with only a 3.7 gpa that puts you at a disadvantage… Early action already passed.
