I absolutely love bagels also, and this thread may be a deciding factor in me choosing Penn over other schools come April. HOWEVER, I noticed that nowhere on your list did you mention Bruegger's Bagels, which just so happens to make the best bagels ever (I especially love their softwhich's which are the square ones, but the old school ones are great too). Please tell me there is a Brueggers some where near Penn.

never heard of it, so I'm skeptical that there's even one in philly.

CRB is the clinical research building over behind the nursing school near CHOP. There's an ABP there (and actually the cafeteria next to it, the best kept food secret at penn as far as cost for quality is concerned, may also have bagels). Supreme is the supermarket that opened last year at about 43rd and walnut, it's much more a traditional supermarket than frogro is.

There used to be a Brueggers in the Philly suburbs. I went there all the time. They were indeed delicious :)

But I think they closed their doors...on the plus side, you can still get square bagels @ Cosi (they're called 'squagels')

I believe we're up to 39 bagel depositories at Penn thus far

another ABP

Supreme

Metropolitan Bakery

Eccoqui

Potbelly at the base of Penn Tower (apparently serves bagels at breakfast time)

Green Line Cafe

Does Bui's have bagels?
Also if McDonalds ever puts bagels back into its breakfast menu rotation, that gives us another 2 (McD's @ 40th & Walnut and inside CHOP)

McClelland Hall (only before 11 AM)

did we get the HUP cafeteria? it has a self-serve toaster as well

Wistar has bagels in the morning too, but you need to work there to get in

And if it counts, there are a couple Green Line Cafes within legitimate distance of the Penn border...the third one is kind of farther and I think it would be responsible to exercise caution and not count that one.

Oh and the Creperie in houston Hall (I don't think anyone's mentioned this) also has bagels.

So how near campus are the Starbucks? on?
Because I currently work at one where I live and transferring stores is a definite possibility when I go off to school...

There is one down on 34th and walnut, and another on 34th and chestnut (someone correct me if I'm wrong..I suck at addresses). They're one block from each other. Pretty close to most buildings where you'll be taking classes in (unless you've a lot hunstman stuff).

Oh right, and there's also one in 1920 commons, which I guess would be 38th street??

you got the addresses right, but the 1920 commons one is operated and staffed by Aramark (the lovely people who run Penn Dining) so working at that one probably isn't a possibility. The Starbucks on 34th & Walnut and 34th & Chestnut, however, ARE normal Starbucks and you could definitely get a job there.

Whats the plural for Starbucks?
Starbuckses?
Starbii?

Oh and as for the bagel count:

Green Line Cafe #2

Houston Hall Creperie

This has to be a world record or something

There's also a Starbucks on the second floor of the bookstore since it's a Barnes and Noble as well.

Already counted the Penn Bookstore Caf

I think all that needs to be said is that bagels are everywhere

If only bagels were considered in endowment calculations....

did you count the bagels in the University Museum??

We have bagels in the University Museum?? where???

There's a cafe on the second floor. They definitely have bagels - in one of my Anthro classes the TA always buys one for the professor.

The cafe also has beer and wine.

I just discovered another bagel outpost, although periodic. Sunday Bruch at McLelland Hall in the Quad.

walking 2 minutes to breakfast is so nice.

Also, does bagel availability imply bagel chips as well?
I really like bagel chips a lot more than actual bagels

no, only real bagels.

The name of one of the left bank places is intermezzo
