Hi, i have just received my housing assignments n have a few questions for anyone who has ever lived there. My room no. is 6416, which means that it is located on the 6th floor (sigh) and the 4th unit. It's a single, which is good. Does anyone know the size of the room? is it smaller than the average balch hall single? or bigger?
Second of all, it has just occured to me that there is no space to hang wet clothes after they have been in the laundry. I am generally very opposed to tumble drying clothes as in my experience most if not all of my tumbled dried clothes have shrunk :( this is very annoying.
Thirdly, what is your opinion on the cleanliness of the public showers and toilets? are they clean or not well managed?
Thanks so much. As much as i am excited for uni i am also quite nervous and anxious. your answers are greatly appreciated :)

Only question I can answer is the cleanliness issue. Staff clean twice a week and it’s very well done. In between, it really depends on the habits of the people that use it and whether or not it’s um… party season. Overall, cleanliness of the showers/toilets is not a problem.

I’m in room no. 4312- does anyone know what it’s like? Thanks.

In terms of hanging wet clothes, my sink mate when I was in Balch had a few of these: http://dryingclothesrack.co.cc/image/polder-compact-accordion-clothes-drying-rack-chrom.jpg

You can probably buy them at Bed Bath and Beyond, or a similar store. Her Balch single was large enough to fit like 2 or 3 (by then it gets cramped, but you can just store them when you’re not doing laundry).

but you have to dry your clothes inside your room? do they dry?? isn’t it pretty moist in there…

I’ve been using a rack just like the one countryangel linked. it works totally find in my room. you can just fold it up and stick it under your bed. I can 100% attest that my clothes dried in the Balch air.
