Ball Park Range for Analytical Essay?

I'm writing it now, and mine seems like it's going to be longish. Is that a problem? Like if it were 5-5.5 pages double spaced, that's not too bad, right? I promise you guys that it's not fluff- I just tend to really analyze stuff. So, that'd be ok, then?

Oh, and if you are applying/ have applied, and want to say how long your essay is, that would be absolutely lovely : )

My analytical essay is 554 words.

I would say that 5 1/2 pages is kinda long for a single essay. I would keep it to 3 maybe 4 pushing it. That's advice not the rule. You may want to call a college admission office and ask. But you have to place yourself in the position of a college admission counselor when you're writing your paper. They are reading so my applications and if each essay was 5 1/2 pages, they'd never finish.

mine was 620 words, 1 page single spaced, 2 pages double...

Man my problem is making it longer... mine is 400 words right now so I guess I have some adding to do.
Who are you writing about?

Whoa... it said analytical, so I was totally thinking of analyzing like I normally do. I guess that's not how CMC rolls... I'll call them and ask.

Ok, so I called and they basically reaffirmed the "no limit" thing. They say generally people turn in 1-2 pages, but they've gotten up to 12 pages. Lol. They also recognize that people have different writing styles, and some people have more arguments than others, etc. So I'm going to keep it as concise as possible, but still analyze the way I normally do. I'm shooting for 4 pages, but it will be tough...

wow...12 pages. The longest I've ever written was about 8 pages max... IMHO, that's more than a bit excessive. I'm at about 1 1/2 pages single-spaced, approx. 900 words. And I thought mine was too long...

that's good that they aren't overly concerned with length though.
