Ball State Freshman class

Yes…we will take approximately 18-20 in the Music Theatre program and 18-20 in Acting.

Hi ball state bill! Are you done calling everyone yet? Just wanted to prepare my D for the no letter to arrive. Thanks so much for all your communications!

Mommyofactress,

At this point, we still have a handful of waiting list folks to call. We are planning to have those calls finished by the end of this week if not earlier. Hope this helps.

Thanks!
Ball State Bill

You are wonderful! Thanks!

We are headed to Ball State on Tuesday!!! We can’t wait to meet everyone there! D is super excited about her schedule!!

Looking forward to meeting you!!!

@natlantastudio! How was your day at Ball State!?

My daughter and I went to Ball State on Thursday and it was so awesome. BIll, Andrea, faculty, and the students could not have been more welcoming. D loves the program!

My d and I went a few weeks ago. Ditto! Andrea and all of the kids were awesome. Bill was out of town, but asked my daughter to call him on his cell. Class act! She got to go to a master class, and see a rehearsal for their production of The Music Man. Her dad and I went back to see the production (The Music Man) a week later to “check it out” bc d is in her musical production crunch and could not go. We always thought of that show as a “ho hum” show until we saw Ball State’s production:) Not only was the music and dance superb…the acting and comedic timing was top notch as well. And my husband and I are very picky being former MT folks!

Welcome aboard all new BSU parents and kids! My D is a freshman MTO at Ball State and I’d be happy to try ans answer any questions you might have. As many of you have indicated, Bill has put together a fantastic program and my D has had an incredible first year there.

Just left Ball State. Had a great visit. Busy day. 9 to 6. Saw a lot of great talent. Son has a big decision to make.

Please let me know if we can do anything to help as you make your final decision!

My D as well! We are praying she chooses BSU!

Ball State Bill we are sorry we did not let you know by the 15th! My D has been crazy in rehearsals for In the Heights, concerto and a end of year show choir extravaganza. Sigh, I will miss the madness of HS!

No worries! Please feel free to send me a private message if I can do anything to help your daughter along with her decision. The class is shaping up to be truly fantastic and we would love to gave her be a part of it! In addition, it looks like we will have some extraordinary guest artists next year in addition to our usual guest artist faculty (Sutton Foster among others). Let me know if I can do anything else to help along the process!

Dear Ball state “family” (i.e. Andrea, Bill, professors and students) WOW. We visited Ball State this week and my D was so impressed. Her decision has become so difficult. For all of you who may be wondering about this school - there is nothing that we have read that didn’t turn out to be true. They are the most nurturing “family-like” environment I have ever seen. And the MT classes my D attended were so intense, so developmental - it was as if they were changed overnight in just one class session. I was amazed. And like futbrodmom, am also praying my D chooses BSU. The only thing standing in her way is to get her head around the distance from home. (But what does that matter - eventually no one wants to come home, nor would they have time; and I looked up the academic calendar - and there’s a fall break - are the MT students “allowed” to leave for home during Fall Break? I hope so - because i’m going to use that to make note to her that it’s not a big deal to be far when you are coming home for Fall Break, and Tgiving…for goodness sake!). But also it’s interesting you mention Sutton Foster above, Bill! My D is in love with her. I’ll be sure to remind her as she struggles to decide. For the record, she said that day we visited “oh, I could totally see myself here.” The students were so welcoming it was an amazing experience. We thank everyone there for a wonderful experience!

Thanks for the message goingplacesmom! We really loved meeting you and your daughter.

A few things to mention that might help:

We have lots of students who are far away from home…that said, BSU really does become their second home! While almost all students go home for breaks, we hosted a group of students this year at Thanksgiving who could not make it home for one reason or another. We loved welcoming them into our home and it was a great day.

All BFA MT students get a cabaret class taught by Sutton in the senior year. This is a huge opportunity as the show is done in NYC at Joe’s Pub.

If being in the city or an urban environment is a priority, BSU is probably not the school for you. That said, you will meet more people on campus than you will in NYC, Chicago, or LA given our amazing guest artist program…27 total this year. Also, I think a setting like BSU allows students to really concentrate on their education rather than letting peripheral stuff overwhelm them.

Finally, the students who come to BSU are students who really want to be enveloped in an environment that allows them to be fully engrossed in studying their craft. While the issues several have noted are important to consider (weather, distance from home, etc.), just know that students will be really focused on their work by the time they hit the end of their first semester if not before!

Looking forward to hearing your decision! The class is taking shape and it is tremendously impressive…we hope and think your daughter will be a HUGE part if it!

Best,
Ball State Bill

I completely agree with everything in your perspective. Your program has it down in spades - and we saw lots of research about Ball State - which is why she was so very overjoyed to be accepted. Personally I think she’s going to make the “right” decision as she wants the best training - and I believe that will be with you “Ball State Bill.” Your students like I believe, Michael at lunch I believe his name was, spoke of being able to be focused without the distractions of the city. I believe your environment is the best of all environments. I hope she chooses wisely and is as courageous as she has always been in this, the most important decision of her life. Will be in touch. Thank you for everything again!
“goinplacesmomsd” (ahhahah)

My S decided that he will attend Ball State next year.

So very happy that he will be joining us TheatreTennessee!!! The class assembled is truly awesome! See you soon. Best, Ball State Bill

Thanks Ball State Bill!!
